Saints First Quarter Offensive MVP

We're four down with twelve more to play. The quarter-way point of the NFL season. Since the Saints have a bye week and there's no upcoming opponent to discuss, why not keep the attention on the team.

I've taken the liberty of nominating several players for election as the first quarter's most valuable player. Lets see what yall think...

Correct Answer is Darren Sharper

Darren Sharper is about #2 for the league MVP, IMO. Has anyone outside of Pey-Pey had a bigger impact?

Re: Saints First Quarter Offensive MVP

in the first quarter of the game
on O it was defiantly the Shockey
on D I would have to say it's a toss up between Sharper and Vilma both played solid first quarter games

if we are talking over the length of the game on the D side of things props go to Sharper with out a doubt but again it’s a toss up between him, Grant and Smith

on the O side of things Pierre Thomas and Shockey

Re: Saints First Quarter Offensive MVP

I voted Sharper, and I'm glad to see him getting so many votes. All too often, MVP is only thought of in terms of QB, WR, RB, etc.

Not even close. Sharper. Ok, I'd say that all the Saints are MVPs, but Sharper especially.

Last nice thing I'm going to say until the Giants game.

I wanted to vote O-line and D-line, but those guys never get any credit. The unsung heroes in the trenches...I guess it's too hard to point to one individual player who has been the most valuable...

You know, I voted for Sharper, but I think we all would agree that losing Brees would be a bigger blow to the team. I think I would just about puke if I saw him go down.

Great Research.
Great Poll... no matter what Danno says.
Great Options.
Great Avatars.

I voted for a few people. Many are deserving on this team.
Brees, Sharper, PT, Hancock...

Sharper was a pretty easy choice for me. 5 INTs in foru games are just wow!

Not a bad pole, not too bad... for a pole that is.

Brees is the obvious answer. Anything else shows a fundamental flaw in football knowledge, which is basically the mental equivalent of a Falcon fan.

except if you think brees did as much as sharper did the past two games then you are equally as flawed

sharper has 5 INTs in 4 games and 2 returned for TDs....on top of that....almost all of his INTs come in the red zone when the other team is on the verge of scoring and we need a big stop or turnover

If we had to play all 4 games without Sharpers back-up, or any decent NFL FS, we're still 4-0.

If we played with Brees' back-up, or any decent NFL QB, we're not 4-0.

But its just my opinion. The QB is typically the most important player on any team so they have a huge built-in advantage in MVP talk.

I will admit that yes it is a lot closer than I originally stated though.
