Re: Our receivers
henderson has stepped up......miller is possibly our best pass catching TE
we need to keep all the TEs we can because we've always had trouble keeping them healthy..... meachem is.....not all he was cracked up to be.....hes shown a couple plays here and there but he is not worthy of the 1st round draft choice we used on him......yet |

Re: Our receivers
I'm having a tough time staying out of your threads JN. I guess I just don't understand all this personnell discussion midseason.
There's a 7 month offseason that's spent doing nothing else but discussing these types of issues. So I'm just wondering why you think now is the appropriate time to discuss. Each of our receivers including Meachem brings something to the table. Like the backs, Payton packages them interchageably. The brilliance of Drew Brees is that he doesn't play favorites. If you have the right color jersey on and you are even close to open, Brees will get you the ball. Meachem caught a crucial 3rd down play that set up the last TD when the game was still in doubt. He's not a bust. Miller is a baller. He's missed. He'll be back. What do you have to say about the critical Saints/Giants matchup next Sunday? SFIAH |

Re: Our receivers
oh and what i have to say with next weeks critical match up? well ill have to say that our saints have a big challenge ahead of them. Drew will have to throw a touchdown and the o-line will need to keep umenyoura and tuck away from him. hopefuly bell will be back and him and pierre could use the run game to bleed time on the clock. bush can open up plays for colston and the other receivers. will smith and grant should be able to give eli pressure so that the db's can cause turnovers. we also need to watch out for Jacobs and bradshaw because aside from eli's arm.. they have the legs to kill our defense if we are not ready..

Right now Meachem is #3 on the pecking order. He's gotten a TD, made some critical catches, and has thrown blocks downfield. He's the reason that Lance has not rushed back from his injury. I finally figured out in the Payton/Brees system there are few booms or busts. If you're on the team and you're a skill player you'll play. You'll get looks. But so will everyone else. Henderson has earned his #2 spot. He stretches the field and finally started making catches. Remember that many considered him to be a bust as recently as 2 years ago. It turns out that Miller wasn't indepensible. Shockey has stayed healthy and Thomas has been an asset. Dinkins should be back from injury. I think the most interesting in season question is how people feel about the recent smashmouth new look offense and whether we'll see it again against the Giants. SFIAH |

Also there's simply a lot more rushing load. Do you know that at this point the Saints are attempt 8 more rushing attempts per game than they were last season? Danno pointed out that the Saints were in the top 10 in rushing the last half of last season. You can see it now. But there's more to it. Like most NFL teams, the Saints will run the ball when ahead. And as we all well know:
Finally it's clear that Eli's new young crew of receivers are a force. We definitely need to keep them in front of out secondary. Good analysis. Look forward to hearing more from you. SFIAH |

Re: Our receivers
SFIAH you've given a ton Of good points thanks. I beleive in the oline cause in reality, drew was sack the least last season if I have my facts straight. And this year not to shabby, well considering it's only the fifth week. Beleive I beleive in the saints as much as in one in this site It seem like I'm a skeptic. No, I just wanted to get some things out. Anyways if we can stop the jets pass rush we can stop the giants hard hitting sack hungry dl right?
