So, after Carney missed that XP....

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Depending on how Hartly looks in pratice would determine if I would start him. I guess it would not hurt to give him some game kicks. He is probably the saints starting kicker for the future. We all know Carney ...

I understand where you are going with this post
The game was on the line and it was a missed kick
but from what I could see the hold was slow and sloppy and as a direct result of that happening it looked like he had to studded-steep (hesitate) just before he kicked it
and the defender got his hands on it

can't blame this one him alone

The problem I have with that, I don't care about the timing or the stutter-step.. If you have been kicking footballs for a living for 20+ years, you should be able to easily kick that ball high on a straight line even if the ball is on the ground. And you don't need 3-4 steps.. your leg should be strong enough for that kick from a standing position.

I know because I could do it.

Whatever decision the Saints make on their starter, I hope that they keep them both on the team. There's a few teams that need a good kicker and both our kickers are good.

".. anyone still trusting him on do or die long FGs?

.. I for one, am glad Hartley is around. "

When he missed that conversion, I SWEAR I had a flashback of the missed extra point after the lateral fest in Jacksonville... If the Phins scored a TD and won after our boys came back all that way, I was going to take out a hit on Carney's butt!

I realize that Carney is one of ours and some of us are loyal to a fault, but enough is enough. Get Hartley out there already!

I still have no confidence that Hartley can make a do or die FG from any distance.
