saintz08- Well Well...........
Let us dig a little deeper into your logic. Shall we? :casstet: According to you, passer ratings are the most important thing for a QB!! That means you think that (1. Pennington, Chad NYJ 104.2) is him MUCH better than- (11. Favre, Brett GB 85.6)- who was only a trivial 5.4 pts ahead in passer rating than (20. Brooks, Aaron NO 80.2) . Brett Farve is going to the Hall of Fame, my man. Starting to get the picture of how silly you sound? Of course not, so let me continue.......... How about (4. Green, Trent KC 92.6) who is way ahead of (17. McNair, Steve TEN 84.0 ) I don\'t know about you, but Trent Green can\'t carry McNabb\'s jock strap!! But, Trent doesn\'t need to carry McNabb\'s jock strap, because if there\'s a job for you in the NFL, that would be it....... Go compare Aaron Brooks\' first three years in the league with Aikman, Elway, or some others and come back and post those? [Edited on 28/8/2003 by BillyCarpenter1] |

Considering ONE QB had a rating better than 100, and the next THREE guys were in the 90\'s, and considering several \"Super Bowl\" QB\'s ratings were only slightly better, I\'d say Brooks is in good company. All of that notwithstanding the FACT that a QB\'s rating is in reality based not entirely on his performance but also the performance of those around him again I say Brooks is in pretty good Company. See \"08\", if we went on rating alone then the question would be why didn\'t Mr. Pennington win the Superbowl last year? Numbers will never prove my point nor will they ever prove yours. Keep on barking up that tree baby. The only thing fallin out is some nice, tasty CROW! Enjoy!

The NFL rates its passers for statistical purposes against a fixed performance standard based on statistical achievements of all qualified pro passers since 1960. The current system replaced one that rated passers in relation to their position in a total group based on various criteria.
The current system, which was adopted in 1973, removes inequities that existed in the former method and, at the same time, provides a means of comparing passing performances from one season to the next. So a rating system adopted by the N.F.L. is not good enough for Billy and Saintsfan . So maybe you guys should explain this \" potential \" system you have developed . |

I haven\'t finished my system yet, but here\'s part of it.
1.) You should give a QB more than 3 years before you give up on him or you\'ll probably be making a big mistake. 2.) You will never be able to rate Jake Delhomme on my system or anyone elses, because he has to get on the field first. |

Saintfan asks why Pennington hasn\'t won a Super Bowl yet? Well, for starters, he hasn\'t played a full season as a starter, but even that is really irrelevant. Obviously the QB is the only person that controls the destiny of a team right - that\'s why Archie brought the Saints to the playoffs so many times, and why Dilfer never got to a Super Bowl... er...and then what does that say about Aaron Brooks considering last season\'s dive Saintfan?
I\'ve brought up Pennington time and again as the example of the perfect type of QB for our system. Young, smart, efficient. All you Brooks Lovers want to try to compare Brooks to Pennington and show how he had more touchdown passes and yards and downplay the importance of PASSER EFFICIENCY. OK, well let\'s really look at the two side by side, shall we? Chad Pennington Started 12 games in \'02. Yards - 3120 (260 per start) TDs - 22 (1.83 per start) INTs - 6 (.5 per start) Passer rating of 104.2 (1st in the league) Those 12 starts were his first 12 ever. He helped his team clinch a division title and go to the playoffs. Aaron Brooks started 16 games in \'02. Yards - 3572 (223.25 per start) TDs - 27 (1.6875 per start) INTs - 15 (/9375 per start) Passer rating of 80.1 (20th in the league) Those 16 starts were his 22-38th starts ever. He had no playoff appearances. As you can see, Pennington beat brooks in EVERY category including TDs AND YARDS when you do a true comparison. He also did it with less talent on the field and an offensive coordinator who isn\'t as good as the Saints\'. So, now, how is Brooks better than Pennington? Shall I compare Brooks to other young QBs right now? B/c I don\'t care about how he compares to a guy that played 20 years ago, I care about how he compares RIGHT NOW - and let me tell you guys something, he doesn\'t stack up real well. |

Question Stands :
So a rating system adopted by the N.F.L. is not good enough for Billy and Saintsfan . So maybe you guys should explain this \" potential \" system you have developed . Saintsfan Chad Penningtons rating is a biproduct of the rating system , not the system . Billy If your system is not finished by your own admission , you are not able to judge other then the current N.F.L. rating system . So by your own admission your conclusions are irrelevent because you really have no means to judge ...... |

Billy, this post is a great example of how you throw these topics out with the sole intention of being able to argue and state your stats. Here again you bring up the subject yourself knowing what response you are going to get and chomping at the bit to be able to throw out the latest stats you\'ve found from some other board.
I found it interesting that there was not a negative comment about AB when you piped back in with your \"I can\'t believe\" rant\". Next time you want to argue just name the post, \"I want to argue\". |

Oh and one other thing - I\'ll bet you Trent Green puts up better numbers this year than Steve McNair BILLY... That\'s MCNAIR, NOT McNabb.
