Shout out to the Defense

Hey everyone, i'm new to this site but been a saints fan for a number of years. Just thought it would be appropriate to give a big shout out to the defence. They have really stepped up since the start of the season, but as usual nobody gives the saints any credit.

Everyone says we give up too many points, but if you think about it, the only reason other teams have scored is because we have given them good field position after a miscue either on punt returns, or a turnover by our O (which doesn't happen very often). Miami had an average starting field postion of OUR 40 yard line in the first half.

They are doing a hell of a job forcing turnovers (thank you Gregg Williams) and Darren Sharper looks reborn. He fits in perfectly with what Gregg William wants and that's a ball hawk patrolling the middle of the field and let his instincts take over.

Jonathan Vilma is still the man in the middle, his effort and leadership are priceless and it just shows how special one guy is when he can single handedly shut the wildcat down.

Our cornerbacks are likely the most talented group we've had for a long time, (thank god/or mickey loomis for getting rid of Jason David) when i first saw our signing of Jabari Greer i thought its just another small cornerback that won't help, but he is the complete package he can cover and tackle.

To all saints fans, please feel free to let your opinion from this post heard!!

WHO DAT!!

Welcome aboard dizzle88!!!

I completely agree, the defense is the shizzle. Our D stepped up to shut down the wildcat and the addition of the new players and Gregg William's influence has been unreal!

I too was wondering who is Jabari Geer, until I saw how he intercepted a Farve, the Packer receiver was going back for the ball because he was scrambling and what look like a sure catch for 1st down became a pick six by Geer and he turned on the after burners. I said the Saints have not had a corner with that much speed and match with TPorter we should be set for a while. The Bills let him go because they drafted McKelvin (I think that's his name)

One man's trash is another man's treasure .... last season the saints had one of the worst db corp in the nfl now not only does it have depth but its one of the strong parts of the team

Re: Shout out to the Defense

I think, and you guys can disagree with me if you want, but I think, that this is the MOST complete team, I have ever seen in Saints uniforms ever. In the past, with a deficit of 21 points at the half, one facet of the three would have given up, and we would have lost the game. Second half of that game, offense, defense, and special teams, came out on fire. When Roby almost returned that kick, and would have if not for a trip up, on his big toe, I knew that we were coming back. My entire demeanor changed from the first half, and in my heart, I knew that we were going to win.

I hate to say it, but in the past, I probably would have left at halftime. But not this year. Bring on the Pats, the Cowboys, the Steelers, the Vikes, the Broncos.... I "ain't" scared of none of you anymore. Damn, I'm getting fired up right now!

What's popular is not always right, and what's right is not always popular.....

I have to agree with you; we've been terrible in the past of winning games we fall behind in. Specifically the Rams in 07 and the Panthers (2nd game) last year come to mind. We got real close both times and never really had the team to seal the deal. Now we do.

I had a client that was a Bills fan, asked him about Greer. He was very upset to have lost him and stated that we had acquired ourselves one great CB. I knew then that we were making all the right moves.

Welcome aboard dizzle88

i love the additions to the defense. We have a group that now can keep the saints in a game and once in awhile win one.

Funny thing is this group is just getting some fresh blood and Williams has yet put his stamp on this group. I am just waiting to see what his first off season brings in. They are not done by a long shot. bring on the 2010 off season baby.

Yer it will be gd to see what improvements greg williams will make in the offseason, this is the first time in years that i have been excited to see our D come out on the field cuz every1 knows something gd will happen!!

In the past it was like, the opponents will score on this drive, but if we score on our next drive were alright. Always trying to outscore every1.
