Re: NO Sedrick Ellis = MAJOR run yards
Michael Turner was running like a man possessed. Is and understatement. It was like he was when he first showed up with the Falclowns.

Re: NO Sedrick Ellis = MAJOR run yards
That is a concern .... that and the recent propensity for turnovers. We are looking much less invincible now.

Re: NO Sedrick Ellis = MAJOR run yards
Agreed. When he did go up the middle Vilma met him in the hole. And Vilma won that battle. But Vilma and the others had a hard time bring him down in open space. And I see why Dunbar is just a backup. When he met Turner in the hole, Turner flat out ran over him. When will we get Scott F. back?

Having Ellis may have allowed our D-line to play a bit wider, or those runs clogged up the gut may have become tackles, instead of Turner bouncing it outside. And you can't deny Ellis's penetration disrupting the play from the start, not allowing the play to develop as easily, we probably didn't shift and stunt as much as we would had Ellis been in, and you can't ignore what his leadership brings to the entire line. Yes the DE's (Charles slo-mo Grant in particular) certainly played badly, but not having Ellis affected the entire D-line. |

Re: NO Sedrick Ellis = MAJOR run yards
Grant looked like he was the guy getting the double teams since Ellis was out. Those runs weren't the D-Line. If they forced Turner outside on inside runs they did their job. The LB's and DB's took A LOT of bad angles and missed tackles for what should have been short gains.

Re: NO Sedrick Ellis = MAJOR run yards
Every since Ellis went out last week teams have been running better against us...I can really see the difference in pressure generated by our D line. There was just no way that Grant was going to come on strong and look good all year. He hasn't been conditioned to play hard the last couple of years and I think he's running out of motivation.
