Jeremy Shockey....

Ok it's time to come clean. Some of you guys couldn't give the guy a break last year and in the offseason.

This thread if for you Jeremy. I stood up for the 4x Pro Bowler.

Who's ready to happily eat crow??? :bartinator:

I am. We didn't bend to bring in a sideline cheerleader and now he's paying dividends. Keep it up, Shock!

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I defended the guy and the Reggie-meister all offseason. Especially during Shockey's passing out at the bar scene. Which is good because the crow is starting to stick to my ribs.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I was all over this trade before it went down and I still am .... the Saints got Drew another weapon and its looks like the team is more together now. So what Loomis gave up a 2nd and 5th for him, who's to say the players drafted would of stuck with the team.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I was very hopeful about the trade, but a little skeptical... now I'm just Really glad it's working out for the team!

There are more games left to be played then have already been played.

Was not for the trade. Was concerned about the injuries and the attitude. Darn glad he's a Saint THIS year. LOL.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I was all for it when the rumors first started flying of the Saints trying to acquire him. I was glad when it went through, and I'm definitely happy about it now. Shockey has gelled with this team and Drew Brees. He has been everything I expected him to be now that he is healthy. I love his fire and passion that he displays on the field. Shockey is just another piece to the puzzle that the Saints were needing.

And his Tweets are pretty hilarious at times. lol

After Kyle Turley I wasn't sure I wanted someone with Skockey's volatile reputation but he's fit in well and has definitely helped this team. We're lucky to have gotten him for so little.

The giants are suffering without him.

Ahh... but it's a violent sport and you need an attitude to play well.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

great west coast offenses always have a good TE.....this is a huge piece we were missing.......shockey added a dimension that we were completely missing in our offense and there is only a handful of TEs in the league that could do what he is being asked to do

very few TEs are as complete as jeremy shockey.......sure there are great blocking TEs like heath miller and there are great pass catching TEs like kellen winslow and tony gonzalez......but as far as being complete, i cant name anyone better

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

well, the actual poll has choices regarding the trade, which I more than fully endorsed.
I was in a stink about the injury and the time spent on the sidelines subsequently. I thought it it was gonna turn out to be a publicity trade where he gets paid $, yarns out a convenient injury to keep him out of the huddle and then fades into history. I'm glad he proved me wrong.

I agree with this choice, but I have gotten the crow out of the freezer just in case.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I was happy to get Shockey but I was of the opinion we had overpaid for him. I am pleased to be wrong. We could not have gotten his performance or caliber out of our pick. He was iffy last year due to injury but he has clearly proven that when healthy he is one of the best. His attitude and effort have been 110% and a large part of that may be due to the success we have had. Let's just keep winning and not look back.

Man I love now !!! He's playing great. He just need to get, DREW SLAPPED

21counterZ-trap 11-05-2009 09:34 AM

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I liked him as a TE because he's a good blocker as well as receiver.

However, I was very opposed to giving up a 2nd and 5th for a TE with injury problems in the past and a reputation as a malcontent whether warranted or not.

Originally, I didn't want to give up more than a 4th for him, and Im totally on record saying that. I AM REALLY GLAD he's working out and fitting in though. Now that he's here, and healthy, I have embraced him.

Today, I still think anything more than lets say a 3rd and a 6th rounder was a little much but, Im dealing with it.

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

It was the character issues that had me worried and his injury history was scary as well. Last year and this year are like night and day, he couldn't catch a break much less a pass last year. If he keeps this up and stays healthy at the end of the year I'll be having a party with crow, crawfish and ice cold beer. Everyone is invited, it'll be a BYOC party...I'll have plenty of cajun seasonings. ;)

On board since day one. Not looking for anyone to eat crow...I'm just happy the guy is doing what he was brought here to do (and while making the NYG's eat the crow) ;)

I'm with you 1976.

I was fairly disappointed with his injuries and subsequent production but I was optimistic that he'd turn it around when healthy. I'm glad he has a role and is helping the team now...he's made some unbelievable catches this year. Lets pray he stays healthy

skymike 11-05-2009 05:31 PM

Re: Jeremy Shockey....

I love people eating crow.

I wasnt a "hater," but I thought Shockey was just a big name with a big price, picked up to keep ticket sales brisk, but I wasnt totally buying the
negative vibe I was hearing from the Giants. I knew Payton wouldnt pick
up a "cancer."

Wow, he's not overrated at all, he's productive, he does little things, and
I love his spirit. He had some injuries, which slowed his production last year, but you know what? I dont blame people for getting hurt, and I dont understand fans who flame players for being injured.
He didnt get injured on purpose. (not directing this at anyone specific) Lets see your fat butt get out there, run your guts out, get hit by 250lb LB's and see if you dont get a little injured.

If you get hurt at your job at Walmart, do all the customers say, "oh he sucks, he's hurt?

Been a fan of JS since the U, I knew Shockey would be the beast that he is, hurt the 1st season and everyone was saying it was not a good trade etc. You can’t turn down a guy like him that’s full of energy and into the game and what he brings to the game. SHOCKEY = BEASTMODE!!!

He also gives us the WrestleMania Factor.

Remember Kevin Greene. You just couldnt believe the Steelers could
lose, because his energy was so contageous.
