Interesting defensive stats thru 9 games...
INTERESTING DEFENSIVE STATS
Run Defense, 2008 - 117.8 YPG Run Defense, 2009 - 115.3 YPG (we're 2.5 YPG better than last year) Pass Defense, 2008 - 221.7 YPG Pass Defense, 2009 - 227.7 YPG (we're 6 YPG worse than last year) Points per game, Defense, 2008 - 24.6 PPG Points per game, Defense, 2009 - 21.9 PPG (we're 2.7 points per game better than last year) T/O Ratio - 2008 Minus 4 for the season T/O Ratio - 2009 Plus 6 (through 9 games) = Plus 11 for 16 games. Anyone care to guess what the big difference is between this years defense and last years defense? |

People can run and pass all they want but when you have a turnover ratio that high it cancels all those other stats out.
The D is just making plays and forcing turnovers. Even our 3rd string DB's seem to be in position for at least 1 or 2 picks a game. |

Again its Greg Williams...
You have to be able to put the right people in the right places to make plays which is what we didn't have the past seasons! Monkey Brains just lined everyone up in a so called base D and said ok stay in this area and wait for them to come to you. Bend don't break - MORON. |

1.- The 2009 defense has scored 7 TDs (is it 7 or 6?)
2.- The 2009 defense is stopping teams in the 4th quarter. |

Re: Interesting defensive stats thru 9 games...
The biggest difference between this and last years team is that we are more talented in the secondary. The coaching helps but, the defense hasn't been that good without our starters.
