Brees leads Pro Bowl voting, despite best efforts of Vikings fans

The MVP debate will continue throughout the 2009 season, and possibly beyond.

But there can be no debate regarding the hard numbers generated via the Pro Bowl ballots cast by NFL fans.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees currently leads the way, with 539,228 votes. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is in second place, with 532,455.

Next on the list are two Vikings: running back Adrian Peterson (529,319) and quarterback Brett Favre (476,799).

At No. 5 is Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald (328,451). Sixth is Bengals running back Cedric "Pay the Man!" Benson, with 321,552.

Rounding out the top ten are Pats quarterback Tom Brady (295,477), Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (291,466), Texans receiver Andre Johnson (279,395), and Colts tight end Dallas Clark (274,400).

The NFC leaders at the various positions reflect a high concentration of Vikings fans stuffing the ballot box. Currently, Peterson, fullback Fahu Tahi, tackle Bryant McKinnie, guard Steve Hutchinson, center John Sullivan (who?), kicker Ryan Longwell, kick returner Percy Harvin, defensive end Jared Allen, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, and special-teamer Heath Farwell are in first place at their respective positions.

Fan voting, player voting, and coach voting are used to determine the Pro Bowl rosters.

I think it's a little funny that Brady and Roethlesberger aren't in the top 5.

i think its a little funny that they are beating out matt schaub who is playing much better than both of them considering how well the overall teams are built

Balloting for the 2010 Pro Bowl will conclude on Monday, December 21 following the conclusion of Monday Night Football (New York Giants at Washington Redskins, ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET). The teams will be announced at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, December 29 on a special NFL Total Access 2010 Pro Bowl Selection Show on NFL Network.

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 31, 2010 and televised live on ESPN at 7:20 p.m. ET from Dolphin Stadium in South Florida, also the site of Super Bowl XLIV a week later on Sunday, February 7.

The AFC and NFC All-Star squads are based on the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts 1/3 towards determining the 43-man rosters that represent the American Football Conference and National Football Conference in the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on December 22-23.

The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

People u don't understand if Drew wins a spot in the Pro Bowl he won't able 2 play because the Pro Bowl is b4 the Super Bowl the only way he'll get 2 play if we get in the playoffs

The best possible situation for the Saints is that any one of them elected to the Pro Bowl not go because we always come away from that game with injuries.

I've voted 4 times, and will vote probably 10 more times before the 21st. Anything to prevent Farve from getting a bonus
