Rita Benson LeBlanc is going Over the Edge
NewOrleansSaints.com Friday, November 20, 2009 - 7:00 PM New Orleans SaintsOwner and Executive Vice President, Rita Benson LeBlanc will be taking part in Special Olympics Louisiana’s fundraiser Over the Edge this Tuesday. This event allows participants to “Be a S.W.A.T. Team Member for a Day”. On Tuesday, November 24th at 8:00am Benson LeBlanc’s experience will start with rappelling down the 17 story, Best Western Landmark Hotel. Next, she will be transported by helicopter to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to take part in Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) training. Once all training has been complete she will receive a replica of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team uniform, and then be flown by helicopter back to the Landmark Hotel. Ms. Benson LeBlanc gave $1,000.00 to take part in this “once in a lifetime” opportunity. “Special Olympics is a noble cause to support and I think this is one of the most original fundraising ideas to participate in,” said Benson LeBlanc. “I have always had a passion for adventure and luckily I have rappelling experience, but anyone can try this professional program where they teach you self empowerment through a once in a lifetime experience. I hope more people sign up for Over the Edge and donate to Special Olympics.” Other celebrities joining the cause on Monday are Al Copeland, Junior and Spud McConnell from WWLAM radio. This event is still open to the public for a fee of $1,000.00. For more information on this event please contact our state office at 1-800-345-6644 or log on to our website at www.laso.org. Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) is a state-wide, 501© 3 Non-profit organization, that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. SOLA offers year-round programs for 12,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in all 64 parishes with the help of 12,000 volunteers. Health, education, leadership, family, training and sports programs are available for people beginning at age 2 and there is no upper age limit. There is no cost to participate in Special Olympics. New Orleans Saints - Special Olympics - Over the Edge Gotta love this lady! A Good hearted woman who loves her Saints. I am looking forward to the day she takes over. Re: Rita Benson LeBlanc is going Over the Edge
Special Olympics is a great cause and I am sure she loves the Saint's and does a good job of promotion and getting herself recognized. I still do not want her to have anything to do with the football decisions on the team. Let her take care of the office side and promotions but nothing to do with actual football decisions. Hope Benson lives to be 100 and does not retire. Everyone has the right to his or her's opinion and this happens to be mine.

Re: Rita Benson LeBlanc is going Over the Edge
Louisiana Special Olympics used to do a campaign where they asked you to contribute a set amount of your chosing per Saints TD for the season.
I always liked to do that because it felt even better to give when the Saints were playing well. They cut that out some time ago (before Haslett, I think). What a shame... They could be raking in some serious dough with the way we have scored points in 2002 and the SP years. |
