The only thing i want to show the 07 patriots, is our superbowl ring for 09. I would rather have a championship, than a perfect regular season. If it comes down to those choices, then I sit the starters if need be. We already lead the league in injuries. I don't want that to come back and haunt us in january.

Re: Saints can clinch monday night!!!
I'm just saying that I would rather have a
rested group of guys going into the play offs. I remember the 07 pats. They looked tired when they lost to the giants. They ran out of gas in the second half, and they also had bye week. Belicheck took a lot of heat for not sitting the starters as well. I'm just saying, that when the dolphins did it, it was a 14 game season. Maybe there's a reason why no one has done it since. The superbowl is more important than anything else. |

Re: Saints can clinch monday night!!!
I agree. We finish the deal. 16-0 would be nice, but, as the Pats found out, 19-0 is infinitely better! Let the starters get some rest, especially ones that have been banged up, but don't let the offense get out of sync. 2008 Panthers not withstanding (who I still say their record last year was VERY misleading - they won 6 very close games, should been 6-10, but we got that "Panthers own the Saints" monkey off our backs, so I'mma let that drop), the team with the bye week usually wins that divisional playoff game. So I'm not too worried about it, but just hope we're being extra cautious. Even if all the starters return next year, this is a special season. We gotta do this NOW.

Re: Saints can clinch monday night!!!
One thing you gotta remember, is during the season we can afford a loss, and it won't hurt us as much. Once the play offs start, it's one and your done! I believe it was arizona that went into carolina, and new york last season, and shocked the favored teams, to end up taking the NFCC, back to arizona, where they won, and went on to the superbowl. Nothing is a given in the NFL, NOTHING. Just because we go 16-0 regular season, we could still go 0-1 in the play offs, and then it's on to the draft.
I will leave the decision to the coach, but my ten cents have been spent. |

Re: Saints can clinch monday night!!!
While I want to win every game, I want first, to go as far as we can, hopefully to the Super Bowl. So if that means sacrificing a perfect record,
so be it. I care not about stats, or even W-L records, if we already own a bye. There's a good chance we'll be playing backups for the home Tampa game, but I still want to win, even if I'm watching Brunell. |
