Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Nice now we can cover walker and moss. Brings up the question.. Who was released to sign him
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
anyone think we will see Cmac or MM starting Mon? Surely they cant just slide in. this system is totally different than gibbs ol "just go there" scheme of the past

We'll know more wednesday. Give it a half week of practice to know the upcoming roster and starters. I think MM is in such shape and he knows the D where he could start NOW if needed. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Wow, we went from being strong in the secondary to scrambling for bodies to play. I'm glad that MM is back, between him and McAlister one of them should pan out well for us. Jenkins looked good in his game Sunday and I'm glad he got the interception in his first game. Our secondary is going to be tested at every turn Monday night in the Dome. Hopefully we get some bodies back this week.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
You guys act like these guys don't know the system but I beg to differ they totally get the system. They are profession DB's. Williams makes adjustments each week based on who we are playing.
Gibbs system was a broke pop warner system. MM and CM know how to man up, where to be what to do in situations. They fit Williams system far better than Gibbs broke system. |

I remember when he first showed up from Green Bay and didn't know our system, he was the only playmaker out there at that time. Mike is a very strong NFL cornerback. Solid player all around. Was all we had the past 2 years. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
You saw MM frustration with our safties not giving him help over the top and not taking the angles they were suppose to. I feel sorry for the guy. I felt like he was the only one who got it, obviously Gibbs didn't get it.
Now pair MM up with A DC and Safties who know what they are doing and where to be... Get the F out of here! This game is over before its played, lets hope what MM is ready and injury is healed like they are saying. I don't know if they actually held CM out for the Bucs game on purpose. You give the Pats tells and what to expect in the secondary. We didn't need him to win so sit him. Sure he may not have been in game shape but he's a pro and had been preparing to play!!! Something tells me there is more to that story. Saints may have been preparing for this game. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Here, I edited a pic to show you what MM would look like in a Saints uni...

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
MM is 33yrs old now with at least 2 major knee injuries, but I'm sure he was worked out and passed the physical or else they wouldn't have signed him. right?

Hi New guy here. I think we will see CM in nickel but I wouldn't expect to see MM until the Skins game if he's needed. |

Way to go, Halo, you even scooped WWL!
BLACKANDGOLD.COM! Welcome back, Predator. Was he really here last year? Wow, the time passes. I'll bet he's still great. |

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
The latest:
Saints placed CB Leigh Torrence on injured reserve with a separated shoulder, ending his season. Torrence, the Saints' No. 5 cornerback for most of the season, finishes up with 10 tackles and a half sack. The 27-year-old old is a favorite of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, but the Saints' increased CB depth will put Torrence on the roster bubble if he's retained in restricted free agency. Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Don't have to worry about his knees. I don't think he will be playing much man to man and with CMac and Sharper in the secondary that's ALOT of experience in the secondary. I like it alot.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
The guys over at SR are taking credit for this. What a bunch of bleepbidy, bleep bleeps.
Mike McKenzie told someone here on SR.COM at a hornets game last basketball season that he would be back! =) I think people wrote him off too much last season, and now give him the label of old. I don't remember when last season, but nothing got past him up until a touchdown was scored on him and then all of a sudden everyone was saying how he's old and such. I'm working so I can't dig up specifics. http://www.saintsreport.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134785 |

Saints | Ellis, Greer expected to play in Week 12
Mon, 23 Nov 2009 11:28:36 -0800 Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports New Orleans Saints DL Sedrick Ellis (knee) and CB Jabari Greer (groin) are both expected to play in Week 12. KFFL - New Orleans Saints News and Notes I like the M&M being back. But for all of you FF guys start Wes next week. Without Porter and Greer coming back at less than 100% we have no one to cover him. |

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
i get excited thinking of possible defensive schemes with greer, porter, jenkins, cmac, mm and sharper on the field at the same time. this of course is assuming everyone is healthy and playing like their former self. could be the best dime package in history haha!
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
This is wonderful news. MM is back with the black and gold!!! As long as he is healthy, the combinations that can be put out there in our defensive backfield are numerous...in time for the final push with the Pats and Cowboys coming up, too...

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
And on another note, I know I'm going to get razzed for this but what does "pawned" mean ?
I've seen it used (mostly in jest) by guys on this board but since I'm new to this forum vernacular....I haven't a clue lol |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Quote:
Many people attack "pawned" as a misspelling of "pwned", but it has, in fact, become an acceptable spelling. The original origin of the word "pwn" was a typo, probably from a high-speed chat, of the word "own". Think how "the" is now "teh" in traditional l337 internet slang. In any case, looking at the origins of the word "own," one could deduce that it implies some dominance over something or someone. When "own" and "owned" became "pwn", "pwned" and "pwnage", the words came to mean the same thing; dominance and superiority. The new word "pawn" is very simmilar in the sense; its plain definition is to belittle or reduce someone or something to pawn status, essentially, "owning" them. 1. I pawned you! All your bases now belong to us! 2. Drake pawned Dopple in Warcraft III. You cannot stop the Orcish Hordes! Urban Dictionary: pawned |
