Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Interesting. Good for Mike. Hopefully He's got something left. Seattle didn't want him but looking back he couldn't be much worse than what they have.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
OMG this is big. Its not like he sucked last year and can man up against most anyone!
With a coach who knows what he's doing and our safties... looking good. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Interesting. Do we have room on the roster for another DB? Does this mean Torrence will be shown the door? Or did McAlister disappoint? Or is Hartley finally healthy so we can cut Carney and have 1 kicker? Inquiring minds gotta know LOL

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Wow. This is NOWHERE on the net. Great job insiders!
I don't expect to see much from MM anytime soon. |

Maybe they signed to keep the Packers from grabbing him... |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
i think torrence is goin to miss time with a shoulder injury, im not sure though.....
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
i love how our secondary went from complete garbage, to really good. if these two recent signings are healthy our depth is gonna be amazing.
does this mean torrence is going to ir? |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Torrence had a stinger and will be fine for Monday. Gay is still iffy for next week.
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Glad to see McKenzie back in the fold. He was a popular Saint. I wouldnt expect too much from him however. I kinda heard a while back that he didnt look to be in very good shape, and then there's the knee. However, when 4 of your firs 5 CBs go down, and there's a player you're familiar with out there, it makes sense to bring him in. There was a CB on the practice squad earlier this year that we had hopes for but he was picked up by another team
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Think they're going for experience and he has it. Sounds like he's healthy.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Congrats on the scoop. It's being reported everywhere now.
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
on the surface it looks like good news, but it might mean that Greer won't be ready next week either.
Prioleau gone maybe? news on McCallister was good, but maybe premature otherwise Chase goes back to the yo-yo cut list Prioleau gone maybe? |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
I applaud this move for several reasons.
#1) MM was a player, like Duece, who contributed to the growth of this current team and deserves a free bus ride to where ever we're going. #2) MM was a standout cornerback back when he had zero help over the top. Even if MM has lost a step, now that we have legit safety help over the top, then it shouldn't matter that much. 3) I believe in second chances for those willing to give it all they've got. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Man Thats great News Welcome back MM

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
So who gets Randy Moss??? and the looser gets Welker?????
I hope Grant and Smith show up big on Monday Night,or it will be ugly. |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
I have a strong feeling the the Saints will be playing a lot of nickel and dime packages against the Pats. This could be a good thing, especially if Ellis is back to provide pressure and stop the run. Their running game doesn't scare me much, so the Pats will most likely have to pass...A LOT. Brady is a a master at the QB position, and the Pats receivers are top notch. They will have to be ready to defend against the screen pass to Kevin Faulk out of the backfield if Brady can't find anything available with Moss, Welker, or one of their other receivers. GW better have the combination of Greer (hopefully he's ready), Sharper, Harper, Jenkins, McAlister, McKenzie, Young, Reis, and Prioleau jacked up and ready for this game. It is going to be a struggle.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
I'm just stoked to have him back.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
This game is all about defensive pressure and containment in the front 4. Brady has to have no more than 3.5 seconds in the pocket or he will eat us up. I'm more worried about the attrition along the front 7 this season than the minor nicks some of the secondary have (save for Porter and Greer) We didn't need Gay back after the second quarter and Torrence will be fine. Clearly the coaching staff/FO feel that it's time to prepare for a deep playoff run. It won't matter what seed you have if you've got too many key injuries. I like the MM pickup because Porter and Greer may be out for more than a few more games, if at all this season. We need some experience in the DB secondary come playoff time. It may just be that it's a competition between McAlister and MM for that extra spot.

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
This has to spell the end of Carney. The numbers don't make sense otherwise. Unless they plan on cutting Pierson Prioleau.
I've got to be honest, just thinking about anyone other than Greer, Porter, or Jenkins even trying to stay with Moss gives me night tremors. I think even Sharper may have his hands full over the top this week. |

Mike gets to play with Sharper again. I'm glad that he's back.
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Either Porter's injury is more serious than we thought, or McKenzie is completely rehabilitated. Either way, Mike was best corner on our team for the past few years and I think this is going to be a major improvement and can only help 10 fold.
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
I love this. My biggest worry about New england was their underneath passing attack and it looks like we are going to try and cover that with CBs leaving Sharper over the top to intercept those balls thrown to Randy "alligator arms" Moss!

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
It's official - the Predator has returned!
:band: |
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
Speculation on that other site is that torrence is hurt worst than first reported. Torn rotator cuff.
|
Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
I don't know that MM will play but he's a good addition regardless. Greer, Porter, McAllister, MM, Sharper, Harper...that's a damn solid group.
Something to keep an eye on in the NE game is their TE Watson and their back up for Welker. They are money at picking up yards when a D locks down on the usual suspects. our LB are going to get exposed from time to time. |

Re: Saints Sign Mike McKenzie
If Torrance is hurt worse than previously thought .... then this would explain perhaps his deficiencies in coverage? Or is he the new JD?
Good to have MM back! |
