New Orleans Saints place cornerback Leigh Torrence on IR to make room for Mike McKenzie
By Nakia Hogan, The Times-Picayune November 23, 2009, 5:03PM To make room on the 53-man roster for newly signed cornerback Mike McKenzie, the New Orleans Saints placed cornerback Leigh Torrence on injured reserve, a team official said. Torrence, a four-year veteran, injured his shoulder in Sunday's 38-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Torrence had been active for five games this season, mostly on special teams, but was pressed into more extensive duty during the last two games when the Saints' cornerback position was hit hard by injuries. Torrence finishes the season with 10 tackles and a half sack. |

Re: Leigh Torrence on IR
Torrence played his butt off for the Saints. No, he is no where near ready to play on a regular basis in the secondary, but he does play hard. He will be back next year and should be much improved. Very good prospect trying to play an extremely difficult position in the NFL. With that said, how lucky are the Saints about now? The opportunity to bring in McAlister and McKenzie for the stretch run is just gold. Believe me, that is the benefit of having a great season. Guys want to play in New Orleans these days.

Re: Leigh Torrence on IR
He didn't have a bad game against the Bucs in fact if you see the play where he dislocated his shoulder like 2 plays later he was back in the game made another hit and BAM pop that shoulder back out. You got to like a guy who would but it on the line and try and work thru the injury. Props!

Re: Leigh Torrence on IR
Yeah, he has balls for that. But McAlister is a solid CB and I'm very happy to have McKenzie back and in for the ride to the big game.
BTW, why is the forum so wide now? |
