After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
... I know I shouldn't be, I thought I wouldn't care, maybe I should be happy about it, but during my annual Disney trip, I saw more new Saints gear walking around the Magic Kingdom than you'll see in the B&G shop. There was a sea of 9s and 25s everywhere...even saw people swimming in the pool with Saints gear on; and honestly, it kind of felt wrong. I usually see Who Dats here and there, but this year, I saw hundreds of people with new Saints gear. I usually don't walk around with much gear, maybe a hat or worn out B&G sweatshirt...of course, the faded Fleur-De-Lis tattooed on my left hand between my wrist, index finger and thumb is there for everyone to see that I was branded B&G long time ago, before tattoos became the accessory fad they are now.
..anyway, just a little peeved :) WHO DAT! |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
must be a single incident b/c i never see saints stuff in so-cal.
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I went during the Summer time and was surprised to see a lot of Saints gear. Most of the people I talked to came from England and are huge Saints fans.
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I saw two... Count em TWO.... Saints hats in my town at the local high school ball game and by Goodness I wanted to ask them when they joined the bandwagon. I can honestly say when i wear my shirt or hat or something people used to trash talk me.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Yeah...here in Japan I'm seeing it, too. Makes me sick...these folks swoop in here after my +30 years of sheer agony to capitalize on the media frenzy. These are the same folks that if the Browns or the Lions both go 10-0 they'll be the first to throw ol' #9 or ol' #25 to the back of the closet. But if they'll make the Dome that much louder, I suppose it's alright. Just don't expect to see them next year if we lose a game or two.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Saints fans are so negative. You retards have nothing else to complain about.... LOL
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
i did a clinical rotation last month for a place and the first thing someone decided to ask the me was "so how long have you been rooting for the saints?" that stuff seriously pisses me off.

However, after a season like this one, this Saints team belongs to the ages. |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I caught the other end of the bandwagon last week.
I went to work with my Saints windbreaker on (as I often do) and got on the elevator with some dude I didn't know. He took one look at my coat and said "Great year to be an Aint's fan, huh?" After the urge to pummel him passed, I responded that I had been a Saints fan for MANY years and we were having a great season. Turns out said dude was from Shreveport - no doubt one of those displaced Cowgirls fans... |

Me too. I'm cool with more people filing in on the bandwagon, but know your role newbies!!! ;) |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I'm an Englishman living in England and have been a Saints fan for many years. Can't say that I see many other Saints fans Donuts32, except of course when I went to see them at Wembley Stadium when the played against the Chargers. And YES! I have been to New Orleans, 4 times and seen the Saints play. First time was in 1992, The Dome Patrol, WOW!, now they were worth travelling over for!
So pleased that the Saints are finally, so far, having a good season! But as coach Payton says, one game at a time. |

i was driving on I-80 up here, and a truck passed me. He had a Fleur de Lis decal on the back of truck ? It might be spreading up here in Utah ?

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
The most stuff I ever seen in Ct was a leather wallet and a blanket
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
my buddies know my affiliation......they always call me a front runner when im around them because the saints are actually good this year
but you should hear them talk **** to other people that wear saints stuff.....i thought i was the only saints fan in ohio.....and i guarantee my buddies thought the same thing because they say a lot of things that grandma's wouldnt approve of to other "front running, bandwagon jumping, saints fans" |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I guess my favorite bandwagon moment, has to be when I went to watch the first game against Detroit, at the sports bar, wearing my Manning throwback jersey. Including one Saints "fan", I had at least five people say to me, "I had no idea Peyton played for the Saints." grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ I'm getting too old for this...... :(
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
If winning is truely the answer for bandwagoners. Lets hope they stay on board for LIFE!!!!!
|
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I have been wearing old Saints hats and such all over the world when traveling a lot and didn't care one way or the other if there were any more people with Saints gear or not. Usually do not see much outside Louisiana but who cares I am a Saints fan so I will always wear mine. As far as others the more the merrier for me.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I have a friend that is a Packers fan. He's been watching the few games that have been aired on tv at my place. He hasn't admitted it yet, but he gets almost as excited about the Saints as I do. The other day he TOLD me that we were going to listen to the game on Monday night in his patrol car because he has satilite radio and we have to work during the game. The guy is hooked.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I've got new Saints stuff, so don't be too annoyed. My other stuff was getting kinda worn out, needed to replenish the stock. I'm here in N.O., at Harrahs, seen a few pats fans walking around, they were quiet. Most of the staff here is wearing jerseys from all eras. I'm enjoying the ride.

Simply put, it should gall anyone who's had to suffer through years of never making the playoffs, or being checked off as a win on the schedules by top tier teams pre-season. Those of us who've earned our stripes during the lean years now have to tolerate front running fans mouthing off about 'their' team? Don't get me wrong, it's nice being liked instead of a perennial also-ran who gets no coverage by the press. I just think that the noobs need to know their role. Climb on board and enjoy the ride, but get in the backseat and STFU until you KNOW what you're yapping about. Let the old heads drive this puppy, 'cause we were doing it long before you came along. End rant here... B) |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I'm all for bandwagon fans.
More revenue for the Saints organization is always a good thing. In turn it generates more revenue for New Orleans and the State of Louisiana. Less chance the team will move to L.A. More chance the Saints will continue to be contenders. Tutor them in the ways of being a Saints fan. Welcome them, don't get angry. I'll take a bandwagon fan who will yell and scream any day over the "longtime Saints fans" who wear putrid purple and yellow in the dome and chant the only word they can spell whenever things are looking low for the black and gold. I tell all new Saints fans they have a duty to punch anyone wearing purple at the Superdome in the face . |

Honestly, I do agree with all you said. Is just that it irked me a little to see the literary hundreds of people wearing Saints stuff this year walking around Disney, even one dude swimming in the pool with a Saints visor on - I have NEVER seen anyone swim with a visor on, much less a Saints visor. Now, this was in Orlando, so I don't doubt a lot of these people are from LA, but where were they the past years when the team wasn't doing that great? I think you should show your colors win or lose, not just when you are winning and winning big. ... maybe I'm just feeling a sense of "over-entitlement" after all the years of pain :) |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I'm pretty sure only a serious Saints/Payton fan would swim with a visor on.
Are you sure it wasn't Sean himself? Ready for the battle of the hoodie and the visor tonite!!!! |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
i'm in des moines so i hate when people think i'm a bandwagon fan. i usually break out my old school gear for a night like this so i don't have to explain to everyone that i'm the real deal, and just because they like the saints now doesn't mean we're buddies.

i wear my saints stuff all the time so im not worried about my black #25 jersey getting scuffed cuz i know i can go home and change into the black #12 jersey or even the white #25 im also a fan of my #9 jersey that was a misprint and doesnt have anything on the front.....its kind of like a superstition thing |

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Just remember this about being a fan: when someone jumps on board a bandwagon they may act like they really care, but they don't get the same satisfaction as a long-time fan. I lived in New Orleans when I was a kid and the Saints were my favorite NFL team, but I will admit, I have always been a bigger college football fan than NFL (so my name references Auburn, not Philly).
I (like a lot of people) found my level of support for the Saints really rise after Katrina. I had not lived in New Orleans for years, but I really wanted the city to have a symbol of hope. I was outraged that the Saints might move and I was so happy when the Saints beat the Falcons in that MNF game back in the Superdome. I have been following the team closely since then. Be happy that the Saints are enjoying more support than they were in the past and remember that someone becoming a new fan doesn't take anything away from the fact that some of you have been fans for decades. New Orleans is a special place and the Saints are a special team, and I think the more people who recognize that, the better. |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
dont be.
Sometimes you also get bandwagon friends. So long as you know who the die-hards are, enjoy the party. |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Toby, you're not gonna believe this.
My radio station is sponsoring a WhoDat party at a Hooters tonight. I'm not at this one, I'm at Woodrows on Chimney Rock, but for the past 3 years, I've represented Saints fans on the morning show, in fact, the morning show guys give me crap about it all the time on the air. So everyone in H-town who listens knows I'm blackandgold. |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Does the Saint's benefit $ from the merchandise thats being sold?
If so let them buy My friends tell me that I shouldn't wear my Archie jersey, what do you guy's think? |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
Wear it and be proud!
and I think my join date helps out my nonbandwagonness ;) |
Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
I think my Saints stuff from 1982 prevents anyone from mistaking me for a wagoner.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
If you have Black and Gold running through your veins. If you, like me, walked the streets of New Orleans and proudly wore the colours, even when we were awful. If your heart bursts with pride every time you stand in the 'Dome. If you have been on this crazy rollercoaster ride that is being a Saints fan. If we went 0-16 yet you still came out with a big 'Who Dat!'. If you really are a fan then what does it matter about the bandwaggoners? We know who we are and we know our worth and we feel this season so much more than the fake fans because of the years of mediocrity we were there and they weren't and that is where they need our pity. For the simple fact that our joy cannot be explained, it can only be felt and it truly is a most wonderful feeling.

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
If I ever got to watch a Saints game in the dome, two things would happen. First, Id probably cry. Second, Id propose to the first hot saints girl I think is not married. I mean, why not? :P

Re: After further review, little peeved over bandwagon...
My hate for the Cowboys started in 1987 when my dad got transferred to Midland, TX and I would get picked on at school for wearing my Saints jacket. It only got worse when in junior high, one of the teachers (my football coach) would give me crap after a Saints lose and a Cowboys win. I can't wait for the game in the dome this year ....
Hey let them jump on the wagon and spend their money on the Saints, in a couple years they will jump to the next "it" team and their true character will show though it. Like my dad said growing up, "Cheering for the Saints shows and builds your character. When they win it all, it will be that more sweeter." |
