Re: Naysayers...please stand up!
How do we squeak by The Rams and Handle The Patriots, I guess when they say "on any given day" is true.

Re: Naysayers...please stand up!
Give me loads of crow...this is one of the best Saints games I've seen in a while. Holy Cow did Payton carve up that secondary! Of course, Brees' accurate passes and looking off the defense REALLY helped...good Lord. Next obvious move to keep this a steam-rolling team is this...who is gonna be our kicker? Carney jacked it up tonight...like I said from the onset, Carney missed a FG inside of 40 yards and almost missed that first FG. Is it time to let this guy go or what? When we get in that close game down the stretch, I really don't won't this liability kicking for the B&G...teams now see our weakness, for sure. Carney is gonna sink us. Other than that, if we keep winning by 2 TD's, Carney is obsolete, but we can't take that chance. A championship will require us to have a dependable kicker.

"Any given day any given team can beat another given team." My other favorite is that: "The best team doesn't always win". We can smoke the Pats and turn around and lose to the Rams the next week as easy as that. Its about match ups, showing up, and performing at a high professional level each week in and week out". I also have to add I was really suspicious the past couple of weeks that they were preparing for tonights game. Sure it could have shot themselves in the foot but they could have been that confident as they looked at the schedule and game films. I think there was a reason they held MM until this week because he was the one I would have signed over Mac hands down. As to not show the pats what and who was ready and going to create havoc for them or where to exploit. What a surprise. I could be wrong but there is a lot of things that didn't add up going into this weeks game but I love the outcome. |

There are other factors that play a part on games: matchups, byes, missing players, players' psyche for that given game, etc etc etc. ...and speaking of psyche, there is one parallel between the Rams-Saints and Pats-Saints: in both games, there was a team that was looking for a statement win: the Rams needed to get off the schnide, were coming off a bye, had just gotten their QB back, were at home, and were playing an undefeated team. The Saints were playing home on Monday Night, against the team that pretty much has been the measuring stick for the better part of the decade, week after week hearing the "who have you beat?" question, hearing how great Brady, Manning, Farve are. Off course, the Rams gave it their best, and still ended up losing, whereas the Saints gave it their best, and blew New England out of the Dome. |
Re: Naysayers...please stand up!
Maybe I am wrong, but if Ellis plays I don't think S. Jackson goes off so well against us and that game is not as close.

Re: Naysayers...please stand up!
I saw it as an even matcup. I thought we would win by 7-10 because it's at home. Had I known Brees would stay clean, I would have predicted an easier win.
