this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; He traded in his hands of stone 2 years ago. I told my cousin to start Meacham instead of Henderson for fantasy... go figure it didn't matter who he started....

I was going to say the secondary in general. Patchwork bunch of rookies and guys on the street a few weeks ago, and shut down one of the top 3 QB's in the league.

And I thought McAlister was the HUGE signing ... MM Welcome Home!!! You get a game ball for a tremendous performance.
If I had 2 to give though --- the second goes to our Offensive Line ... The game is won in the trenches and they did a great job protecting Drew all night. If it wasn't for Dave Thomas he wouldn't have been sacked ... O-Line ... Hats off to you tonight. |

For as much as we are going to give the secondary credit... our front 7 did a hell of a job keeping Brady on his toes. GREAT all around game by our defense.

Other than Drew, obviously...
Mike McKenzie sure made a lot of flashy plays, and it was great to see the Predator back in B&G, but Malcom Jenkins was on Wes Welker all night, Wes Welker being THE go-to guy for Brady, and Welker was not a factor. ... and Sharper was laying the wood! ... Nicks and Evans dominated the o-line. Everybody played great, EXCEPT for old man Carney. He was pulling kicks left and right all night, including missing a cheap shot. |

Re: And your game ball goes to...
Brees - But he did what he always does, just a bit better tonight.
McKenzie - With our top 3 CB's out, he came in and looked like he's been here all season. I'm shocked that he picked things up that fast. Everyone else simply brought their A-games, but Drew and MM were special. They targeted MM, and he responded with an outstanding effort. Mike now affords us the opportunity to let Porter and Greer get completely healed up. Also, the rookie Jenkins got a lot of playing time and did extremely well IMO. I seldom heard his name called, which is great for a CB. Also, I loved what I saw from Harper, Dave Thomas (what a find), Nicks, Pierre Thomas, Courtney Roby and Thomas Morstead. All excelled tonight. The only downer was Carney. He's lost it guys. |

Mike McKenzie pulled the Saints' ass out of the fire all night. He was picked on constantly and made only one bad play (the missed tackle) which wound up not meaning much overall.
I was disappointed when he was released because he's one of my favorite Saints. Welcome home. Get your ring. |

Re: And your game ball goes to...
I have a feeling that Mike has been sneaking around and learning the defense, and obviously staying in great shape. He told a Saints fan "I'll be back", almost like he knew Payton would call him in a certain situation. We're just lucky that Mike didn't get picked up by another team.
