Saints fever is spreading. For the first time since the NFL began keeping track of merchandise sales in 1979, the Saints have cracked the top 10 highest selling teams in the league.

The Saints rank 10th in year-to-date sales (beginning April 1), and their sales are up more than 60 percent on NFLShop.com. Quarterback Drew Brees' jersey is the 12th-best selling jersey, up from No. 17 a month ago. His was the sixth-best selling jersey for the month of November.

"It's cool," said Brees, who trails No. 1 Brett Favre, No. 2 Troy Polamalu. No. 3 Adrian Peterson, No. 4 Tom Brady and No. 5 Peyton Manning among others on the jersey sales list. "It's an honor that nationwide more people are becoming Saints fans."

Pittsburgh is No. 1 on the team sales list, followed by Dallas, Minnesota, the New York Giants, Chicago, New England, Philadelphia, Denver, Indianapolis and the Saints.

Saints tailback Reggie Bush, who had the league's hottest-selling jersey early in his career, said the Saints' national following seems to have been building over the past four years.

"I think a lot of that started my rookie year (2006) and kind of the beginning of our era, so to speak with Sean Payton, Drew Brees, (Marques) Colston and those guys," Bush said. "I think we have a lot of playmakers on this team, a lot of guys who have made some big plays, and I think a lot of people see that we're an exciting team. And we've kind of turned this organization around. And it's also kind of special because of what happened after Hurricane Katrina, how we kind of turned things around. So I think that's all part of it."
