Does Greg Williams stay on as DC next year?

I say ... maybe .... cuz he may want to stick around for a ring or two ... but he may be tempted to be a HC once more.

Ego aside, why blow a good thing? He's getting paid HC money, he gets all the upside of picking his players, training them the way he wants and he has no downside of being the "explainer" of failed expectations. Factoring in ego, who wouldn't want to be the king. It's good to be the king. Until the peasants chop off your head.

I say they can him... he's useless!!

Kidding, of couse.

I hope he sticks around for a while. If they have the kind of success this year that we're all hoping for, I don't see why he wouldn't stick around one more year and try for a repeat.

He wants to be a head coach. That's no secret. If the Saints go all the way, he's going to get a HC job. If the Saints don't, he probably still will.

In all honesty if he goes, I'd love for John Fox to lose his gig and be our new DC. Won't happen but you'd have to admit SP and Fox would be sick.

Re: Does Greg Williams stay on as DC next year?

Williams will leave.

Sean will tire of destroying defenses and switch his focus to becoming a defensive "Mastermind'.

Immediate domination on both sides of the ball!

He fires all coaches and players except Drew.

Saints (Sean Payton and Drew Brees) go undefeated and unscored on for 5 seasons setting up their true goal.

WORLDWIDE DOMINION!!!!!

I kind of agree its a stupid poll.

Greg Williams is a class act, a stand up dude. I think he is more than happy being a DC. I think he understand HC is not his bag of tricks with his past attempt at it. And hasn't Sean already proved he will do anything he has to do to get this guy... I don't think he is going to let him walk so easily nor will Benson after this season.

Keep in mind when Sean Taylor was killed what did Greg Williams do? He ran a defensive play with only 10 men on the field leaving Sean's position empty as a tribute.

I think he stays. I think Benson will put his foot down and do whatever it takes to keep this year's team exactly as it is.

Washington, Cleveland, Oakland, and Seattle are possibilities. I imagine Snyder will make him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL. Then, they will pay Sharper, McAlister, Hargrove, and Moore big money in free agency.

Kinda hope you're right. We shall see! Although, being a HC is rather intoxicating!

Bobby and Mike D were discussing this on WWL-AM
They both thought not only would he take the money and run,
but he might take an offensive coach or two with him.

GW better know a good thing when it is right in his front door step. His little stint in Buffalo and Washington should remind him of that.
Hopefully now Benson knows that as well. He can't boogie without the right music (if you know what I mean).

maybe one more season

if he wins the super bowl with us this season and goes on next year to have a good season with us next year then he will be gone to coach another team

Hardly any team that wins a superbowl survives the player & coach raiding that happens the next season.

We win the big game and you can bet we lose coaches and players.

Re: Does Greg Williams stay on as DC next year?

I could see GW leaving if this team wins the super bowl this year and some owner throws a truck load of cash his way. If that happens look for a couple players to follow him. He has turned around this defense in the right direction so some one will want him. Its just the nature of the NFL when your team starts to win. Hopefully Benson and Sean do all they can to keep him around to build a dynasty here in New Orleans

I agree, Canton's is not only creative, but really well done. It would violate my
religion to use it, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

Cursing, lusting, envying. Gay sex is the same type of abomination as eating crawfish. Slavery is okay, but killing is not, unless you are killing a witch. It's all very complex, and really, the less you know about it the better off you are.

No way he leaves after this season, He has one more dominate season like this one, and boom he is gone.. Just one man's opinion

Re: Does Greg Williams stay on as DC next year?

Depends on if he really wants to be a HC again or not. My money is he is gone. The good news for the Saints is there will probably be very few vacancies after this year. Most of the bad teams have first year coaches, so it's safe to assume they get some time to get there stuff together. Washington is the one I would worry about most, and maybe Houston, Chicago, or Carolina. I doubt Chicago or Carolina is firing their coach, but Houston is a strong possibility. I sure hope the Saints find a way to keep him around.

I pray he does. He is the reason we are knocking fools out with his aggressive style of D. I loved that hit Sharp put on Kevin F.

I think it all depends on how far we get in the playoffs. As well as he's doing for us, the Grudens, Holmgrens, Billicks, and Shanahans of the world will get the first crack at every job this off season. Leslie Frazier of Minnesota will probably land a HC gig also. As xan pointed out, why mess up a good thing? Does he really want to go coach a struggling/rebuilding NFL franchise for a slight pay raise which he probably could here? Also what defense doesn't want a great offense to have it's back? We're as good as it gets.

I think he still has it hard for a HC job. Depends on what we do this year.

Still good banter ... we don't want to mess up a good thing for sure. But one thing is a certain, change is inevitable as winners get raided with players and coaches alike!

Re: Does Greg Williams stay on as DC next year?

I knew almost nothing about Gregg Williams when it was reported we were interviewing him for the defensive coordinators position. Last year we had the number one offense again and finished at 8-8. I really believe that GW single handedly got us over the hump. His aggressive defense pounded the offense and toughened them up while changing the finesse attitude and bringing swagger to the team. He can scheme with the best and brings out the best in his players. That being said I believe he is here next year and helps us continue to ride the wave that we're on. We need him and he's learning a lot from Payton on running a winning franchise. He is an an excellent place in New Orleans, but he may look to make a change after a couple of years.
