Frustrating....
Maybe this is in the wrong forum but it bothers me. It is somewhat Saints-related though.
Like 20 minutes ago I'm at Popeyes getting a poboy. Now this particular Popeyes is in a pretty ghetto area of town, but I've been there plenty of times because it's where I work. So I go in and order, and I'm standing there wearing my Brees jersey, which I usually wear on Saturday. And I'm standing there.....and standing there.....everybody else is getting their orders, even the people who ordered after me. Which I've come to expect from this particular place, because I'm a white guy in a really black neighborhood. I go there about once a week and its the same thing every time. It usually doesn't bother me, because I'm on my break and not in any particular hurry to get back to work. But after I'm standing there waiting about 25 minutes (seriously 25 minutes, that's ridiculous) the guy comes out and sees me and he's like "Oh, white boy likes him the Saints since they got em a white quarterback, huh". At this point I'm already pissed, and this jerk has just called me a bandwagoner and a racist in basically the same breath. So I told him, "Look here, I was a Saints fan when Brooks was the quarterback, and I was a Saints fan when Hebert was the quarterback, and I was a Saints fan when Wade Wilson was the quarterback, and I don't appreciate what you're implying here. So either get off your ass and fix my sandwich or give me my money back, alright?" At that point the guy goes and gets the manager and he's like "Sir I'm going to have to ask you to leave the premises" and there's a cop behind me so I just leave. As I'm leaving the cop pulls me aside and says "Hey, I don't blame you for getting upset, I saw all these people getting their orders and we both know what's going on here, don't worry about it, I'll get your money back for you." So he gets my 7 bucks and I leave. Argh. |

Re: Frustrating....
At least the cop was cool.
As far as popeye's goes, I've had to wait forever for a po-boy at the one in Mandeville. So, it's somewhat expected. Sucks that the employee was rude to you. Actually, sounds like HE was the racist. |

Re: Frustrating....
Yeah, normally I would give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've been in there numerous times just to order a two-piece meal or something very basic like that and they're still serving everybody else before me.
Don't mean to sound like the whiny white guy, it just makes me sad and disappointed for humanity in general. |

Re: Frustrating....
Sorry to hear that good sir. But such is the way of the world. Popeyes still has the best fast food fried chicken (try saying that three times fast) around. Much better than the ridiculous Bonjangles nonsense we have here.
Also, your name rocks. (pun intended) |

I live in Ruston, LA, and I the service at the one here is slow as hell, too. I didn't get any of racist overtones from the employees, though. They were really nice, but not very efficient. Me and my girl waited for a good 20 minutes for a shrimp po-boy and an order of strips the other day. I actually prefer Southern Classic over Popeye's, but she was in the mood for the latter. After we waited that long, she looked at me and said "We should have gone to Southern Classic, huh?" LOL

Re: Frustrating....
I have always said.......Don't let a few jerk-offs ruin your view of an entire population of people. As a white upper-class guy living far away from the ghetto these days(My life hasn't always been so great) I hate having to defend my population because a couple of jerks get off on being mean. The same can be said about the lower class. Not all of them are this way. Sorry you had such a bad experience. If you can just don't go back to that popeyes.

Born in Gretna huh, that's my old stomping grounds. I went to West Jeff and lived on Terry Blvd and off Lapalco Road. I was born at Southern Baptist hospital on Napoleon in New Orleans and I heard it's gone now.

Re: Frustrating....
What's with so many people getting poboys at Popeye's? I don't think I've ever had one from there. I will say that it is hard to find a poboy done the right way outside of a 100 mile radius of new orleans. It really shouldn't be so difficult. The people that seem to do it the best outside of that area are the little Vietnamese owned seafood and poboy shops. Ok now I have to go get one for lunch today.
