Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Whoa nelly!

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
To make room for who?
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Greer must be coming back for the Falcons game, but should they have really done this with all the other injuries?
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Says we signed Marcus McCauley to take his place.

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
April Foo.... oh wait.
Shows what I know. I thought that he looked as decent as any of the other CBs out there. |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I'm not sure how you cut the guy who just made one of the plays of the game to knock out Mike Sellers on that fumble in OT. Is Mike McKenzie hurt? Are Greer and Gay healthy? My head is spinning at CB right now.
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Thats a surprise, he only caused the fumble in OT to get the Saints the ball back before they won ... there's got to be more to this story then being leaked out right now if they are going to cut a veteran for someone that has never seen the field

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I think it's two-fold. Greer is coming back and probably Porter as well, and we just placed Dunbar on IR so they may have signed McCauley as a special teams replacement, as well as a developmetal CB.
No need to keep McAlister as a 4th/5th CB when you can sign a younger player who plays special teams (I guess). |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I'd rather someone that has a super bowl ring and knows what to do over a younger guy that has never seen the field for the Bucs even if he can play special teams

Same here. I can see that move at the end of the year, maybe, but not right now. C Mac hasn't looked Pro Bowl, but I thought he had definitely played well enough to keep his spot on the roster for the rest of the year... |

I believe we will see a lot of Greer Sunday. |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Just putting Dunbar on IR would have been enough to sign McCauley. You sign veterans for the stretch drive to fill the gaps. You don't sign developmental players. I don't understand unless there's a new LB like Brooks in the Saints near future.

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I would of rather them cut Carney and kept McAllister around if they were going to bring in another CB even if Greer is coming back

Saints Sign CB Marcus McCauley
NewOrleansSaints.com Tuesday, December 08, 2009 - 4:30 PM New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has signed free agent cornerback Marcus McCauley and waived cornerback Chris McAlister. The club also placed linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar on injured reserve. McCauley is a third-year player who originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings (72nd overall) in 2007. The 6-1, 203-pound Fresno State product has played in 27 career regular-season games – all but one of them with the Vikings – with 10 starts, and has tallied 66 tackles, 10 passes defensed and five tackles on special teams. The 26-year old Rancho Cordova, Calif. native has also played in one career postseason game, making one tackle on special teams. He was waived by the Vikings at the conclusion of the 2009 preseason and has subsequently had stints with the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in one game for Detroit. McAlister was signed by the Saints as a free agent November 18 and played in two games with the club, making four tackles with a forced fumble that he also recovered. The 11-year veteran defender spent his previous 10 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Dunbar is a second-year player who has played in nine games this season with three starts, making 16 tackles on defense and adding 12 more stops on special teams. He suffered hamstring injury in the Saints’ victory at Washington Sunday that will end his 2009 season. |

Is is just me or are we thin as hell at LB now? Is Fujita gonna be back on Sunday? Why haven't we cut Carney and signed a SLB yet? Something has to give here.

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Talk about superbowl blueballs.....he had the prom date, but no action after the dance!! poor dude
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I don't know if you guys watched the games, but McAllister was REALLLLLYYYYY SLOWWWWWWWWW. I'm not surprised by this at all. I was impressed with MM, not so much with CM.

Look for another announcement shortly. |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
You were impressed with MM? Really?? Seriously?? Your joking right??
McKenzie spent more time on his backside in that game then he did on his feet. He looked like he was on ice skates out there. Hell I almost want him to join the US Winter Olympics Male figure skating team after that performance. |

LOL..nice stockman!! know what ya mean, but the dude might need a few weeks to get his game legs back. plus that was a crappy field
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Snip - McAllister had that personal foul. Must be something they see with him.

Saints signed CB Marcus McCauley. McCauley is unlikely to be a game-day active, nor is he a good bet to last long on the Saints' roster. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I am perfectly fine with the call but he could have rode out the season on the roster.
I'd feel better once we get Derrick Brooks in!!! |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
LooKS LIKE GREER IS BACK THIS WEEK!!!
Saints released CB Chris McAlister. McAlister held his own in limited action against the Pats two weeks ago, but he was exploited by Devin Thomas and the Redskins. Jabari Greer (groin) is expected to return this week. |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Jason Campbell is an OK QB, but he looked like a freaking All Pro last Sunday. I am not sure if McAlister was really the problem, but something for sure needed to be done. What I do know is if the Saints want to finish this season with a ring, it's absolutely necessary to get those banged up guys back on the field again. At this point I honestly don't get releasing McAlister, but I do understand there is always more to it than we will ever know.

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Character Issue maybe?

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
Where's the link to this? I haven't seen any confirmation anywhere that this is true.

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
McKenzie's days are probably numbered as well. Loomis needs to get some help at LB quick not sure if D Brooks is the answer but they need to get someone in here quick cause Troy Evans looked like he can not replace Fajita, OLB and special team's ace are 2 different animals
|
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I am not going to question a 12-0 HC/FO...
I do agree with Deuce's comment in that McAlister looked slow, and as great as the OT hit was, that was pretty much all he did. |
Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
I would have to agree about C-Mac looking slow in both games. Mckenzie on the other hand was all over the place against the Pats but did struggle a bit against the skins. Maybe they might also bring up Fassitt from the PS.

I like Casillas..lets give him a shot...cant be worse than Evans?

Re: Adam Schefter just Tweeted that Saints cut McAllister
MM was playing in mud after two knee reconstructions. I'd be overly cautious myself on that field. He's not on IR and is able to go so that should not show up anymore since we won't be playing muddy, snow games this year.
