Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the New Orleans Saints have waived FB Kyle Eckel.

David ( WENDY'S )Thomas is a much bigger threat at the H-back position, so not a surprising move. With a few extra spots on the roster, it'll be interesting to see who Loomis brings in over the next couple of days.

That's two roster spots open now.

53 - Chris McAlister + McCauley - Dunbar to IR - Eckel = 51

Not sure if anyone paid attention on the long Devin Thomas kick return but Eckel ran to the right side of the field right past Thomas who was coming left. I had to rewind it three times to try to figure out what in the world he was doing.
