Saints: Nice Guys Finish First
In the days of bravado, chesh thumping, and egoes the size of Texas, it's so refreshing for me, as a football fan, to see a team winning games, that puts the team first. The Jerry Jones', and Daniel Snyder's, can buy all the players they want too, but still fail to achieve the chemistry, and comradery, that this Saints team shows us each and every week.
We live in an age, where the T.O.'s, Ochocinco's, and the Favre's, rule the airwaves every off season, with drama, and td celebrations, instead of wins, accomplishments, and off field dedication to their communities. This Saints team, as far as I can see, hasn't one inch of selfishness, or "me first" attitude, and that is the thing I love the most about the Saints. Not one player on this team has amazing stats, except for one, and he is the most humble person on the team. He is also the leader, and leads by example, putting the team on his back when need be, but also, putting his faith in his fellow players, when his game is not where it should be. Drew Brees is not only a great player, but an amazing human being. The kind of quarterback, that I believe any true player, would fight for, and follow, through any kind of adversity. I understand the entertainment value, of the NFL, and I also understand that it sells tickets, and merchandise. It is a part of the game, that is here, and will get worse, before it gets better. This Saints team represents the part of the game, that I have missed for many years: team first attitude, dedication to each and every player on the field, and complete respect for the fans that scream their lungs out for them every game they play. In my mind, every member of the 09 Saints, are already champions, and I am proud to call myself a Saints fan. Now let's get that ring to go with it! Geaux Saints!!! |

Well written and right on target. You know how they say Drew Brees was born to QB and lead this team. And yeah he is really a special player on and off the field. I think he sets the standard for the team, you rarely hear of Saints players involved with off-field problems. I still thank The Chargers for signing Rivers and for Brees winding up here.

Well thank you, but that's not my butt. I wish, but it wasn't meant to be. I just think this team deserves recognition for being a team, and not a bunch of whiny ego maniacs. That is what makes me so proud this year, and for the years since Drew arrived.
