Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

Jeff Duncon of TP just Tweeted that J. Greer had sports hernia surgery on Wednesday in Philadelphia and that the Saints are hopeful to have him back in time for the playoffs.

Ruh Ro!

Re: Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

Why in the name of God was this surgery not done 4 WEEKS AGO!!?!

I'm sick and tired of our supposed "medical experts" misdiagnosing injuries. They did this with Shockey and J. Brown and now Greer.

Without Porter and Greer in the playoffs we are not winning the big one.
We made a lousy Washington team punt ONCE last week with the current CB's in there. Minus McCallister. I'm pretty pissed about this if anyone can tell.

I agree. Makes you wonder what the heck they have been doing the last few weeks. I think we definitely need Greer to move deep into the playoffs. I think he is our best defensive player, he gave sharper more flexibility to jump balls and make plays.

Re: Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

How good can Porter and Greer possibly be expected to be after 2 months off of football? Even if they do come back, I just can't see them being what they were at the beginning of the season.

Re: Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

No Bueno. It doesn't make things "easier", but Greggggg will still be able scheme effectively.

What we need is linebackers!!

Re: Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

Not sure how a LB covers Sidney Rice, Percey Harvin, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Bolden, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, etc.

What we need is our starting CBs back.

Just thinking about watching our current CB's cover those recievers makes me want to throw something.

He won't be right after 4 weeks... This is more like a 6 week thing.

4 weeks regular season left, and a first round bye gives him 5 1/2 weeks to heal.

Re: Jabari Greer had surgery on Wednesday

Not to be too "know-it-all" about this kinda thing, but sometimes inflammation of tissue can mask the true nature of the damage. In Greer's case, one might not say it was misdiagnosed but more that the full extent of the injury was not seen in various scans. It can be tough to detect injury to the perimesium and endomesium sheaths that surround and connect the muscle fibers and which allows the muscles to work in concert and connect to tendons, which also connect to bones. Depending on the location of the structural damage , it can be healed with time, or, if too severe (or too far away from primary blood flow) it may require surgery. As details about the nature of the surgery are limited, it is probably safe to assume that the full extent of the injury was not determined until recently. Surgery is often the last resort, as total risk increases beyond the risk of time. In addition, recovery is uncertain as it is highly dependent on repairing the existing injury without causing other damage or infection.

He may be done for the year.

he is probably done for the year, and you have to wonder what game this has been. I guess not wanting to allow other teams to know it. Hmmm, what do we do for Porter- wonder if he is done for the year also???

I hope this McCauley kid can bring it. And I realize that is a far fetched hope.

Agreed, most likely McCauley is on board for special teams assignment while Usama and/or McKenzie step up to more 1st team duties.

Basically everyone moves up and McCauley steps to the back of the line.

Just FYI, Duncan just corrected his first tweet, the surgery was actually done on Tuesday. He says that the Saints are expecting him back by week 17 against Carolina.

I say screw that, I just want him back by the playoffs.

It would be nice to give him some gametime before the playoffs though. And by that time Steve Smith will be lolligaging anyway. :-D

Well just think of it this way guys, we only need a win or two to maintain HFA with the #1 seed, even if we lose a game or two we are more than likely the #1 seed still...Calm down fellas, its gonna be alright.

If nothing else teams will game plan according to how we are playing with our scabs in, and then when the playoffs start..they wont see whats coming because guys will be coming back and for the most part you will see the Def we put on the field at the beginning of the year.JMO

Well we have all been proud/boastful about this being a team of destiny. We just plug another player in and they perform, etc....

Why so worried now?

We should still end up 16-0 and if not. It is still the greatest regular season the Saints have ever had.

Hopefully the greatest post-season as well.

Surgery To Sideline Saints CB Greer At Least 3 Weeks - Sports News Story - WAPT Jackson

I sure hope he can come back and play on a limited basis against the Panthers. Hoping for the same thing for Porter.

Don't care if they start and don't want them to play too much, but it would be good if they could get some snaps in to get back in the groove...
