Lets get back to the run game!

Ok, before you guys torch me, we started the game with 3 straight passes.
So, it wasn't all becasue we had to play catch up. I still think we will beat the Bucs and the Panthers game will be a toss up. However, just running the ball 11 times isn't going to cut it. It seems this has been the trend over the last 3 games(which we struggled). 11 carries for 57yds not counting Drew's 2 carries is about 5.1 per carry, which last time I checked is a pretty good ypc average. Let's go Saints, and get back to what got us where we're at today......BALANCE

yer and the worst part about it, was that reggie got into a rthym both rushing and receiving, before he limped off.
If he would have been able to come back we may have converted a few more 3rd downs, because they kept matching him up with brooking, and bush beat him every time

I agree. I think you will find CantonLegend has been cussing all over the site about it.

But I felt that the Saints shyed away from the rushing game because both Thomas and Bell were carrying knocks. Maybe that also palyed a part v Cowboys???? We are actually looking a bit weak on the rush.

Re: Lets get back to the run game!

8 runs in the first half

3 in the second

and 2 scrambles by drew puts us at 13 rush attempts for the entire game

we had 58 successful offensive attempts(which means without penalties) and 11 of them were called run plays

which begs the question....how many pass plays did we need?

dude, that rushing stat is beyond skewed- Reggie had 29 on one carry. That leaves Bell and Thomas 10 carries for 28 yards.

What I didn't get was all of the deep handoffs- Reggies breaks his and then we give it to PT 4 yards behind the line? No rhythm

dont take anything away from people......our running game is what it is and those stats are every bit deserving of what they are

we averaged 5 ypc despite PT and bell only averaging 2.8 ypc......which means at some point we caught the defense sleeping and off guard......the difference between this game and the other games is that we didnt continue to keep the defense guessing.....we just kept passing

I think us having to play catch up all game is why we didnt run as much..but it did play into their hands..They knew we were gonna pass and just pinned their ears back and came after Drew...Ware was lickin his chops and Bushrod...
