Greer Hoping to come back soon
New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer hoping to return soon | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com
The New Orleans Saints got one of their starting cornerbacks back on the field on Saturday when Tracy Porter returned to the lineup against the Dallas Cowboys. They could be getting their other starting cornerback back soon. Jabari Greer, who had surgery Dec. 8 to repair a sports hernia and hasn't played since suffering the injury Nov. 8 against Carolina, said he is finally starting to feel healthy again. Greer said he has been told that the recovery time for most sports hernia surgeries is three to six weeks. But he said he hopes to be back this week, which would move his recovery time to just two weeks. "I'm getting better," Greer said. "After the surgery I felt a lot of the pressure released and I'm really optimistic about getting out there in these next two weeks and making some plays." Greer, who has 47 tackles, two interceptions and 12 pass breakups despite missing the last six games, also said he doesn't expect to be rusty and is looking forward to contributing again to the secondary. "It's more important to get out there with the guys," Greer said. "It has been a long time since I have been out there. I've been staying in shape and making sure that I'm there for the guys that have been playing. I think it is more important just to get out there and just get that feeling back." Meanwhile, Saints Coach Sean Payton didn't shed much light on the team's injury situation, saying only that running back Reggie Bush suffered a slight hamstring pull. Payton also acknowledged that cornerback Randall Gay suffered a concussion, saying the player was "dinged" in the game against the Cowboys. "We'll see where we are at (with injuries)," Payton said. "Wednesday we'll have a better feel for who is practicing and how much work they are getting." He thinks he could possibly be back this week, i just hope he back for the playoff run |

Re: Greer Hoping to come back soon
The Saints will win this week without him and clinch home field advantage. If he gets some snaps next week to possibly knock the rust off, that's fine. Being a veteran I personally don't think it's necessary. What's most important is that he lines up with Porter in the Saints first playoff game.

Re: Greer Hoping to come back soon
watching porter this weekend made me realize how much better our starters are than our backups. we need him for the playoffs more than we need him back for this next game. we have won 3 or 4 games without him against better teams than we are facing this week. our D needs to man up, get the W, and let the injured come back and play practice snaps against carolina to be warmed up for the playoffs. i would hate for him to rush back and suffer a setback

Re: Greer Hoping to come back soon
He won't be back this week. Payton has been super cautious with guys this year even in crucial games like Saturday. Having said that, it's fine by me if Greer is out against Tampa. Other than Win-slow there's really no one to worry about in the passing game. Their best WR (stat-wise) was their rookie that went to IR this week.

Quicker, quicker. If fit, I say get him some snaps before the playoffs. And tell our backuo CBs to watch.

IMO, and I think it is beyond dispute, we have a completely different defense with Greer and Porter in the game.
I think MJ is going to be a very good DB, but that may very well be at safety. |

X2 We had a defensive ranking in the top half of the league with Greer, Porter and Ellis healthy. The January 17 & 24 weekend games matter the most. Now is a good time to start letting Sharper groom Jenkins!
