Eckel first joined the Saints on Oct. 29 and played in five games, starting once. He was released Dec. 8. I love this move. We can definitely used him to provide some protection for Brees without banging up our running backs. We may or may not not need him against Tampa Bay, but in the playoffs, he could come in very handy.

it has to be because shockey is hurt and they need Dave Thomas to stay at TE and not play FB.

Yeah, it's def for blocking. D. Thomas has done well flexing as a TE, but we need him running routes. Reggie does block well, but of course he is nicked up right now. (as usual)
I'd said this when we loss him, I'll say it again - Heath Evans was a big loss. Yes, we managed to keep winning but it's a game like the Cowboy's game where it comes back to bite you. His blocking was outstanding. Guy could run block and pass protect all day. |
