A couple of injury questions

It's always been hard to get straight answers regarding injuries, but here is what I think I know and what I need to find out.

Greer may be back vs. the Bucs ; anybody heard different

Sedrick Ellis; damn he makes a difference vs. the Run when will he be back

R. Bush; His leg injury didn't look that bad he was stretching out after the play and frankly it would've really helped had he stayed in and offered some semblance of a running game. When will he be back?

Jamal Brown; after Bushrod's performance on Saturday the LT spot feels like a vulnerability. What is his status?

R. Gay; It sure would be nice to have a completely in tact secondary...

If we get these back for the playoffs, I see no reason we won't return to form. These are some big holes the coaches have had to scheme around and the fact that we're 13-1 is a real testament to what they've been doing.

If you guys have any updates I'd appreciate it, especially on Brown who I have found nothing on.

Brown is on IR and according to Payton last night on the coaches show on wwl, he said everyone else would be back for the first playoff game.

Re: A couple of injury questions

Official injury reports come out on Thursday. (i think).

Greer's recovery from operation would put him on track for playoffs.
Don't expect Brown back this year.
Ellis may have been precautionary. Should see him next week...
Gay seems to have a lingering groin problem that keeps him from 100% almost every week.

Reggie is starting to make Cam Cleeland look like Cal Ripken.

Personally - I think we can rest the defense this week. After last week, the onus is on the offense to really dominate TB.

It's not like in the good ol' days. Doctors have to clear them to play. Also, the game is faster and much more violent than it was before. You will never see another Jack Youngblood playing with a broken leg. I'm sure there are players out there who will play with broken bones, but at one point their ability to play is so diminished that the hurt player becomes a liability on the field.

On the other hand, you see players coming back from injuries much faster than before.

Well, Dave Thomas played well in Shockey's absence.......but we REALLY REALLY need Greer back.

Re: A couple of injury questions

Jammal Brown was on IR before the start of the season. Left side of that O-Line had been exposed when D-Ware made Bushrod a turnstile (Much worse that what Chuck Smith used to do to Willie Roaf who, BTW, is a first-ballot H-O-F'er)

Reggie Bush? Status is up in the air.

Do need Greer, Shockey and Ellis back.

From here on out, no game is an EASY game. The only team that can beat the Mighty Saints is the MIGHTY SAINTS!! Saturday against those Cows proved it.

*I do understand were ur coming from & how u feel..
What i do know is that R. Bush is NOT gonna play this week & i think thats a good decision. He can play, but they want him 100% for the post season, which makes sence.
Of course, yes Greer will be ready foe the off season, but DON't expect to see him this week, i would expect him to get one more week or so too make sure he is ready. Maybe even let him get i n on a few plays, but not much.
The Bushrod situation is the one single issue that has bothered & pissed me off far more than anything. He was man handled all game. Now, why would u leave him in there against one of the best DE in the game now? On top of that, u leave him in there block'n for Bree's blind side... WTF???

Theres 2 problems i have with that & thats the fact that They did NOT even attempt to fix the issue the whole game, why? Also, & the most serious of it, as much as Bree's was hit & sacked by Ware & other's, wut if Bree;s had got hurt??? We would be screwed... That was just DUMB!!!

We need experience block'n for Bree's on his blind side & move Bushrod to the otherside.
Also, sit Grant's over paid ass & put McCray back in, he's a beast & gives 110% every snap. I believe Big Sed will be good to go for the playoffs.
We should be all good come off season, but we need Greer, Sed & others to atleast get sum play time to get back on track from sit'n so long!!!

Most important to me though... GW needs to get his head outta his ass & bring tha HEAT... He's got'n far too conservative in the second half of season. Im tired of hearing folk's who DON'T know wut tha hell there even talk'n about, say'n that he's not blitzing becuz of our problems at CB. News flash, ive played ball my whole life, pressure creates problems, problems lead to mistakes & mistakes lead to turnover's...
Bring tha F#%K'N HEAT, GW & get with it... We brought u in for ur aggression, not to be friendly... Remember ur moto, KNOCK'm THA F#%K OUT... It's now time to start do'n that again... Let's go!!!

I honestly feel like we'll be fine, though!!!

i think our defensive injuries are the worst ones to overcome. we can play without shockey or bush but we really struggle without greer and ellis

i have to disagree about shockey and bush... while i love D. Thomas... i think he has played over his head this season and shockey really is drews safety valve... we rarely attacked the middle of the field on saturday except on crossing routes and we only used a 1 TE set when we do run a 2 TE set alot... more then u would expect from a wideopen offense... payton loves to run out of that set and both shockey and thomas are good run blockers... his outages really made a difference in the run game and even moreso in the passing game.. we hardly threw the ball deep but just a few times.. u can say it was b/c drew didnt have alot of time but i really believe it was b/c our WRs were covered deep.. this is where shockey comes in... his presence commands the safety to keep an eye on him in the middle and he is often (very often) double covered when drew hits meachem or devery deep.. go back n look at the replays on nfl.com and just watch our deep throws... shockey is almost always pulling a safety from the WR to give em single coverage...

and bush.. while he is either hated or loved by the whodat nation he really does make a difference on the field and u hear it from other teams players and coaches.. im not going to go into as much depth as i did for shockey b/c i dont really need to.. reggie might not be the greatest runner we have but he has been hitting the holes better and his YPA average is way better then what it was the last 4 years and his threat to take it to the house every time he touches it has an impact on defenses, especially when they like to blitz and we run the screen... which we didnt do much of against dallas like i thought we should have done to slow down the pass rush...

And the one time Drew did attack the seam.. Thomas dropped it..

You know every once in a while my brain farts out something worthwhile... :D

I seem to remember saying it and then hearing it again. It just makes too much sense for me to be the only one to think it.

Re: A couple of injury questions

We desperately need Shockey back. Dave Thomas has done an acceptable job but he's not a Tight End that scares defenses like Shockey does.

Re: A couple of injury questions

plus shockey is an animal on 3rd down, has alot of big catches and seems to be brees' safety valve in that situation
