I think there is a big storm brewing here when one player feels he is bigger than his team!

Especially if that one player happens to be 40 years old.

Well, I guess Favre is going to try to eclipse George Blanda's record.

I don't really have a side on this, I understand why Chilly wanted to bench him, and I see why Favre wanted to stay in. A true leader, like Favre, will take the good with the bad and keep at it like a man. Him not wanting to come out is actually a good sign.

I do agree with Favre being somewhat of a butt hole. The way he treated Green Bay for like four years was just a bit much. Retired, not retired, retired, not retired, I mean, WTF? He even pulled that crap with the Vikings this year and I assume will do it again after the playoffs are over.

Truth be told, he is the main reason the Vikings are 11-3. There is no way TJ or Sage would have them in this position right now. He is the final piece of the puzzle that may win Minnesota a Super Bowl.

I think it really boils down to Farve's bigger than life ego. It has taken on a life of it's own.

In re: Madden - I am not talking stats. I am talking the way Madden found a way to mention Farve every single time he had a microphone in front of him, and how he saw everything Farve did as "heroic". Hey, he was the Packers' QB who brought back the Lombardi to Green Bay, the play of everyone around him notwithstanding.

The numbers, when you play that long, you'll get the padded numbers, eventually. But his records are only indicative of how long he's been playing. Granted, that he has been playing 17 years in the NFL is on itself a feat, although 11 years short of George Blanda's record :) .

There are some records, though, he never got close to, and he never will, like Marino's 5084 yards in a season, or Brady's 50 TD passes, or number of SB rings. If you check this link to NFL passing records , you'll see his name is only associated with records that would take time to accumulate.

I never cared much about Farve, but I really started disliking him after his comments when Aaron Rodgers was drafted.

Did they go to the playoffs last year?? Dammit TR, you and your details... lol :)

Now you can argue that Favre's records are directly tied to his tenure, BUT: the guy is performing at a higher level than most younger QB's in the league today...despite his age.

Sometimes I think Madden only used the words he really enjoyed saying, like "boom" and "pow" and "gruble guubllele Brett Favre"...

Records aside, the guy is here for one reason and one reason only. Another ring.... (and maybe some attention)

But wouldn't you agree 76, that since they have gotten away from the running game, and gone pass happy, they haven't looked as good as they did? Peterson is the key their success, seriously. Now, I just hope they don't listen to me, because I for one am happy they are losing. :)

I think it's been blown way out of proportion. Favre is there to win a Championship. Not be a franchise player. Favre is a vet and isn't going to let some head coach he hardly has a relationship with try and bench him

Now that is a novel idea you have come up with Ezekial. What an innovative concept. Fire Childress and make Farve the HC/QB. That is brilliant! I think that might work if you have a QB that feels like he is bigger than the whole team or bigger than the whole of the NFL.

Teams have adjusted to the Vikings just as they have to the Saints.

Peterson hasn't won games for them like Favre has. Yes, he has 1,200 yards but so do Jones Drew, Stephen Jackson, Thomas Jones and (arguably the best RB in the league right now) Chris Johnson.

Any of those teams making the playoffs???

Now, the real question is if Favre can hold up... It's not looking likely right now.

Let the Viqueeens continue in controversy. I really don't care. All my energy is for the Saints.

Well they stacked the box on AP last season
too, and he still got his yards, and the vikes
made the play offs. That was the point childress
was trying to make. He wants the running game to
continue, even if Brett sees something he doesn't
like at the line.
