The Sky is not Falling
OK,
We lost to sucky Tampa in the dome going for HFA. We played flat in the second half on cruise control. Jenkins is not a corner. Our D made 3 huge stops at the end to get the ball back and we did what we had to to get the FG try. Hartley missed. 'tis life. We are in the playoffs with a first round bye. We will play GB or Dallas in the dome in the playoffs. We have a real good chance for HFA still now that Steve Smith broke his arm. We will have Porter, Greer, Shockey, PT, Bell, Shanle, and Gay back for the playoffs. We have had to do a lot defensively and offensively (D. Thomas playing fullback and TE in the same game, etc.) to fight injuries. Everyone at the beginning of the season would have jumped through the roof for a first round bye and to make it to the playoffs so relax and enjoy rooting for our Saints! Big game next week and if we lose, we still play in the playoffs with the whole team back. Capici? |

well said.

I agree Papa. Couldn't have said it better my friend. Well played.

Re: The Sky is not Falling
Preach! We got real spoiled their for a minute, but let's not bicker over the few blemishes on the season we've all been waiting our whole lives for. UF, USC, & U of Texas fans have the right to call a 2 loss season a failure, not Saints fans (or any NFL team fan, for that matter).

Re: The Sky is not Falling
Really, the bigger concern is that we have not played well in a month.
|
Re: The Sky is not Falling
I think this team is tired...i hope they can pull it together..it only gets tougher from here on out..

Re: The Sky is not Falling
The defense hasn't played well in a month. The offense is still scoring 24 points a game over the last 4. When everyone comes back from injury for the second round game this team will look like it did to start the season. The motivation returns and the excitment returns. The dome will be loud and they feed off of that. The coaching staff will have this team ready to go for that first playoff game, and I think we will see more of what we saw earlier in the season from the defense.

Re: The Sky is not Falling
Better start that on Sunday.
It is too hard to "flip a switch" and start playing top notch football. That is usually something that you build up to... |

If I'm concerned and somewhat dismayed (and I am), it's not because we've lost one game. I want to be optimistic, but I am not foolish. Our team is in real trouble and has been for a month now. Those who want to try to minimize it will have to do better than saying "it's only one game" because that is simply incorrect. |

Brees was sharp yesterday and he had some drops..i think our D not protecting a 17 point lead is of more concern..i dunno |
Re: The Sky is not Falling
I don't know. I was watching the second half on my palm pre (better than nothing, but not easy to do). I read in Sean's PC where we came up a yard short on a number of 3rd downs. I'm concerned about the "D" as we all have been, but what, our "O" goes awol for 30 minutes too?

That is why the sky is not falling. The Saints have not played poorly, they have actually played well since New England considering all of the injuries and player shuffling. Even if we lose 21-0 vs Carloina the whole team won't have been practicing together until the playoff game. The miraculous thing is that Porter, Greer, Sharper, Ellis, Fuji, Shanle, Reggie, Moore, Usama, PT, Gay, and Shockey will be ready to go when it matters most. There is no team in the NFL that can lose all of those starters (plus the IR guys) at key positions and succeed. Any team would have a production drop in those circumstances, and most of ours are defensive. We will finally see the whole team play together since mid season in the playoffs. |
Re: The Sky is not Falling
At this point of last season after a few lackluster performances everyone wrote the Cards off. They took care of business in the playoffs and made it to the Superbowl. We Still have a chance. Lets support our team!

Re: The Sky is not Falling
I have been a fan a long time and have to deal with being a fan in arizona, not many other fans here, after losing to dallas and losing to tampa bay, ofcourse i get a lot of ridicule, but that's football, and i am a devoted fan and i am stoked that we made it 13-2 so far, i see a brighter future along the horizon and have a good feeling about the saints this and next season, even if we make it to the superbowl will exceed the franchises expectations and my own.
