One NFL rule that NEEDS to change

I don't know about the rest of you, but I had steam coming out of my ears after we stopped Tampa on 4th down, just to see the play negated because their coach called timeout at the last minute and amidst the noise and chaos the refs couldn't get it recognized until well after the play was over. And I don't buy that he got the ref's attention in time to negate the play.

I have had it with coaches (ours or others) calling timeouts at the very last minute. It is more gay than any poll or power ranking ever seen. The players should be the ONLY ones allowed to call time, on offense or defense, so you don't have these situations. The coach can signal his players or yell timeout to his QB/MLB through the headset.

The players are grown men and the refs are watching them, they should always be the ones to signal timeout. Icing the kicker is also for p*ssies, they need to outlaw it. Even Chris Webber would agree.

Yeah I've grown tired of the "Shanahan timeout" crap with the kicking. It worked once so now every jackwipe tries.

IIRC, Morris did NOT call a timeout to try freeze Hartley, did he? Just let him kick it? Wonder if that was more effective than the timeout?

Re: One NFL rule that NEEDS to change

I'm with you on this, the timeout rules need to be addressed again this offseason. My best guess is a timeout was called and none of the players heard the whistle over the crowd noise. But seriously, these last split second timeouts when players are already lined up is a bit much.
