Pro Bowlers Announced Today

Since the Pro Bowl rosters will be announced today, I thought it would interesting to see what you guys thought about potential Saints' players making the NFC squad. I know a lot of us still think they can or will still make it to the Super Bowl, but let's forget all that for the time being. Let's pretend that the game will still be played the week after the Super Bowl. Here are the players that I think would make it:

Drew Brees: No brainer. No need to elaborate here.

Jahri Evans: Has definitely shed that underrated tag the he has had the last couple of years. Defensive lines know who this guy is now and they realize just how good he is.

Darren Sharper: 9 INT's with 3 pick-6's? He's a lock.

Will Smith: I think he's the team's defensive comeback player of the year. I know a lot of people would choose Hargrove, but Smith is coming off of a 4 sack season to break through with a career high 13 sacks, 48 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and a pick. He finally played up to his contract and he's flying under the radar with names like Peppers, Cole, and Allen out there.

My dark horse pick would be Jonathan Vilma. In a conference full of talented middle linebackers, Vilma could be snubbed. He's been big several times in the clutch and has recorded 110 tackles, 3 INT's, and 2 sacks. He's the heart of the Saints' defense and has been everything we imagined he would be since coming over from the Jets.

What do you guys think?

I agree with those picks. But I think we might put more in the pro bowl.

Re: Pro Bowlers Announced Today

Drew makes it for sure of course and possibly Sharper. Other than that. I'm not sure we will have another player picked. Our O spreads the ball around too much for players to stand out. And the rest of the world thinks our D is butter.

Jahri may be a sleeper. But you can never tell with interior o-line. And Will Smith should make it but won't because he hasn't been consistent enough over the years to be well known. Vilma is a very slight possibility.

It's a possibility they may have more, but the only two other players that may have an outside shot of making it would be Carl Nicks and Marques Colston. The main thing Nicks has going against him is that he is in his 2nd year and the guard position is the strongest offensive line position in the NFC. There are a lot of good ones out there. Unfortunately, Colston has the media darlings ahead of him like Miles Austin, Larry Fitzgerald, Sidney Rice, and DeSean Jackson.

Drew Brees
Jahri Evans
Darren Sharper

No one else, but these are guys who I think deserve mention...
Vilma (although I merely consider him consistently good, not great)
Colston (But Brees spreads it around too much)
Nicks (borderline)
Smith (borderline)

I think you could make a case for Greer and Shockey too.

Forgot all about him since he's been out 5 weeks.

Yes, he was playing better than any CB in the NFL before he got hurt.

But outta sight, outta mind. He probably gets ignored.
