Run defense and run blocking? Good choices.

Good move. With the secondary starting to get their health back, the Saints definitely needed help and depth up the middle at DT.

Didn't know much about Humphrey, so I looked him up. Maybe he's good enough to supplant or compete with Dinkins.

Rodney Leisle is a Saint now...I've heard his name mentioned for quite some time, but I don't know much about him. If he can help with the run game on defense then I'm glad he's here. I wonder how well Humphrey can block.

Re: Saints sign defensive tackle Rodney Leisle and tight end Tory Humphrey
I kind of analyzed this move. It makes me think that the Saints will be resting a lot of starters for the game or part of it. I'm not sure if Humphrey will be suited up this Sunday, but if he is, this could mean that they are going to be using a lot of 2-TE sets and rotating him with Shockey (if healthy), Thomas, and Dinkins. I don't think it will be just for pass blocking. They will possibly be playing conservative and running the ball quite a bit if Brunell plays in the game. It makes sense. Plus, they would need to protect Brunell from injury since he is the only back-up on the Saints' active roster.

Rodney played for the Saints in what, 04 or 05? I don't remember him having much of any impact...anywhere. Short term signing to get Ellis some rest.

Re: Saints sign defensive tackle Rodney Leisle and tight end Tory Humphrey
actually, I've noticed Leisle at the games-- '06, '07, and he seemed to be a decent pass rusher, believe it or not. They kept putting him in on 3rd. Ugly son of a gun. I think he scares them. good move.
