Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
I sit in the endzone next to the tunnel and I didn't hear any booing. I still saw people standing up and giving the players an ovation as they left the field but also if there were fans booing they have every right to. The dome has been sold out since 2006 so pretty much 85% or so of the fans there been having season tickets for at least 4 years. That's a nice chunk of money they have invested in the Saints in such a short time so yes, they have the right to boo when they don't get a quality performance. Myself personally, I didn't boo but I was very disappointed in the Saints 2nd half performance. I have been a season ticket holder for 13 years now driving from Houston to New Orleans and if I decided to boo the team I think I've earned that right.

Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
Im the voice of dissent on this one.
I dont boo anyone except kickers. Hell, I think we should boo ourselves for the lackluster noise in the Dome in the 3rd quarter. It looked like a lot of us partied too hard the night before, and noon starts are a bit early for us. I'm not worried about how much money anybody makes. You know its like the song, "Money for Nothing." You should have learned to play that guitar... Like they do on the MTV..." All of us could have got off our butts, exercised more in high school, and made a million dollars too. It aint Charles Grants fault you cant play. So, I guess my thinking is different here. I aint tellin nobody what to do, I'm just saying I dont. And the money is irrelevant. If you watch football, you're supporting it. They're all just people to me. I got a kid playing football, I played myself, and when you know what they go thru, it gives you a different perspective. Every guy out there is somebody's kid. When my kid plays, you'd better not shout stuff at him, or you're gonna have a problem. |

Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
[QUOTE=skymike;188614]. It aint Charles Grants fault you cant play.
QUOTE] and it isn't my fault he can't play, at least to the level he is being paid. $1 million per sack seems excessive, and to a guy making $45K and paying $100+ a ticket, it is unacceptable. No one is doubting that the players work hard, but in most jobs we are judged by results, not effort. Grant might need to accept the fact that HE was the one being booed, which gives him 2 options: play better or leave. |

Write Tom Benson a letter demanding he gets control of salaries, and tell him you wont come back until he does. I'll go buy us some 7 dollar beers, while I wait for you to come back. They ALL make too much money, and we are wasting our money. facts. You could save a kid in Nicaragua for what you pay to park. For me, I enjoy football much more not knowing or caring what anybody makes. Are you really paying 100 a ticket? Damn, you need to come sit with me in the Terrace, dude. Save that $$. great view, great fans, more violence. dont be mad, I'm not serious. |

However, if you stop watching, that by itself would not put an end to it. You would have to stop buying the products they endorse...thus, lost revenue for the sponsors and pulling of their ads and it just trickles down from there. What has me confused is where I fall. I do not go to many pro games anymore. I have never held season tickets. I am not much of a beer drinker...and I only buy cars as necessary. I do, however, own a dish soley for the purpose of watching NFL football...and this is what has me confused. Does that make me guilty? I think not...because I'm not the one complaining about their salaries. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
A bunch of fans excoriating a football player for expressing his opinion. The justification for this is the right of the fans to express their opinion.
Hypocrite much? If it is a fans right to boo it is certainly a player's right to express his opinion. His opinion is that booing when a team is 13-2, division winner and headed for a playoff bye week is demoralizing. A valid point of view. I think anyone who would boo in that situation is probably an LSU fan and as such may need this link to understand this post. This may also be helpful. |

CG probably knows, having been in NOLA so long, there are a lot of good supportive Saints fans who are classy. He was just calling out that small minority that are passive/aggressive and making remarks like that. I don't have a problem with it.

Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
I played and had both knees reconstructed. I have that inner perspective and I still think Charles is wrong. He can't do my job and I can't do his but by NO MEANS is his job any more important or stressful than ours. If Grant doesn't agree with that lets see what his thinking is when a fireman has to run INTO a burning building to save him and his family.
For 40+ years the swell had built up to the Tampa game for HFA and they didn't close it out. Kinda like punching a hole in a dam...lots of emotions poured out of everyone. Charles should understand that to some degree. It wasn't for the Wildcard game or an 8-8 record. I don't want us to win the Superbowl just for myself this year. I want the Saints to win it for my deceased Grandfather who had season tickets since they became a franchise and they ALWAYS lost. I want them to win for my dad who religiously brought us to watch the Saints lose. I want them to win for my friends who loved the Saints and wanted to see this come to fruition and have passed on. I want them to win because of the dozens of heart breaking losses we have supported our team through. I want them to win for coming so close in '06. This is the time for the team to fight with every ounce of their being on every play and win a championship. We have always supported our team. We will always support our team. But, damnit, they lose by not giving their all in the most important game the Saints ever palyed and we have every right to let loose on them. Saints fans have paid their dues and then some brother, believe that. |
