Just a footnote
It's amazing to me the sheer panic I've seen and especially the media writing off the Saints in a couple of articles I read.
People latch onto the last thing that happened and give that too much importance. You are never as good as your last win and never as bad as your last loss. Honestly we could very well be looking back on this in February and be glad that the Saints were able to address these issues now and not be faced with them in a playoff game. It's better this way for sure. Now, I'm not being unrealistic. There are problems on Defense which you can't just hide for a sixty minutes but the 'D' is what it is. The biggest concern for me right now is the offense. We don't have the kind of team that will win games scoring 17 point like we have the past two weeks. Shockey, Bush, Ellis are big factors IMO that will make a difference in the playoffs as long as they are rested and 100%. I want to see that offense I fell in love with in the first 10 or so weeks of the season and there is no reason that we can have that back for the first playoff game. Guys I'm telling you, 13-2 and everything clinched. This is exactly where we want to be. Have faith, this team isn't done yet. R |

Re: Just a footnote
It's true that when our offense doesn't put up the big points we struggle. I've said all season long that as our defense goes so goes our offense. One thing seems clear to me no, coordinators have learned a damn thing about us the last few games. We can expect the same from this game if we rest our starters.

Re: Just a footnote
A lot does have to do with us being figured out a bit, but the mark of a good (Hopefully this is a great one) offense is that you do what you want to and the 'D' can't stop you. Even when they know it's coming.
I think Shockey and Bush have a great deal to do with our decreased production lately. That should be rectified when it count. I damn sure hope it is... |

Re: Just a footnote
I agree that it's not over yet. They can overcome the recent problems, especially with some injured players returning to the field. But, the panic isn't about last week, or the last two weeks. The entire month of December, the Saints have been playing very poorly. I think they were lucky to win against Washington and Atlanta... neither of those games should have been as close as they were. They played the same way against Dallas and Tampa... the only difference being that their luck ran out, and their mistakes cost them the W in those last two games.
I'm still hopeful, but they need to turn it around. |

It's not over yet by a long shot. Just wait and they all see.

Re: Just a footnote
Screw the national media. They only jumped on the bandwagon after the NE game anyway. It's getting old how much they pump up San Diego and Philly. Once the post season starts, this team will be focused and ready, now that the distraction of the perfect season is over and they aren't the topic of every national sports show. The D will shine!

Re: Just a footnote
Pressure in Dallas was from the outside and pressure from Tampa was from the inside. I think it's wonderful that we have been discounted and misrepresented. Watch what happens when all the O and D starters are back in for the playoffs. The Steelers were discounted when they won it with Bettis, The Giants were discounted when they beat NE, and as said yesterday the Cardinals were discounted and came one pass defense away from the ring last year.

Re: Just a footnote
Someone wrote in the treads about the absence of Shockey and the two losses. I think he is right, Shockey not only is a good blocker but draws the linebacker in coverage. I had this conversation with my brother who is a Giants fan and he said Eli ran into the same problems when he was traded. I credit Coach Payton for bringing him in and seeing his potential. Keep him out of The Panthers game give that toe extra time to heal and get him back 100% for the playoffs. --"playoffs" Coach Mora-- Who Dat
