Re: No Sharper

The New Orleans Saints have decided not to play safety Darren Sharper and tight end David Thomas in their regular-season finale at Carolina.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said on Saturday that neither player traveled with the team to Charlotte for Sunday's game.

Sharper has a minor soreness in his left knee. He had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game as of Friday, but was downgraded along with Thomas, who had been listed as doubtful with a calf injury.

Running back Pierre Thomas (bruised ribs), receiver Lance Moore (right ankle) and reserve safety Usama Young (sports hernia) already had been listed as out.

The Saints (13-2) already own the NFC's top playoff seed.

Never really thought the Saints would lose three in a row. Maybe that is.

Re: No Sharper

Our problems of late stem from a lack of helathy bodies. If anyone deserves a rest, it's Sharper. As a very wise man has said repeatedly, "nothing matters but your confidence and belief in your ability to complete the task at hand. Listen to the rabble at your own peril."

This is good methinks... He came out hot at the beginning of the season when he felt fresh and I hope he does the same.

as long as it's 3, not 4.

We know Carolina has been hot lately, but reality is they would be better off losing also. They would get the 3rd place schedule, plus move up 6-8 draft spots.

Resting and gettig healthy is huge. I think our players come out fresher as a result, not rusty. The D desperately needs the rest, and Brees will be fine. I think this is smart. We can't win al banged up!!

Normaly I might disagree with this move, but not right now, and not how banged up we are. I think this team will be ready to play in the playoffs!
