Re: Antrel Rolle thinks Rodgers > Brees

It seems abit out of character/cocky for an nfl player to simply discount brees, seen as he is widely considered the best QB in league.
if he thinks aaron rodgers picked the D apart at will, wait and see how much of a general brees is. If they want to underestimate us thats fine, it just adds to comedy when their looking at the scoreboard knowing their season is done.

LMAO the last quote "we have a great defense" i believe 45 points beg to differ, quite abit of shoddy tackling on the cards part if ya ask me.

The thing I found more hilarious than Antrel Rolle's ignorant remarks were some of the comments on the article. I was LMAO at a lot of them. Good stuff.

Let him carry on. But I have a theory.
You know what you get from Brees. Predictability. You know that he put the ball in play and he will be effective.
Rodgers is not so predictable and not so effective.
C'est la vie. Poor Rolle :rolleyes:hates that unpredicatbility.
Just a theory guys.

I don't know Antrelle, you got smoked repeatedly by Ben Roethlisberger. I'd keep your yapper shut until to you do something impressive. Giving up 45 points and failing to hold on to a 21 point 2nd half lead is not the thing that leads defensive players to mouth off.

That is code speak for:

"we sucked so we need something to blame for our bad defense. Let's say their QB is the best ever to try to make it look like we had a reason for allowing a 51 spot. Yeah, yeah that's it."

I completely agree with the quote above. One point to note is that be compared him to Brees. Typically when you do a comparison of that nature you do a comparison between the person who just ripped you apart and the person who you believe to be the Best (Drew Brees).

Another point to make is that he elected to face a Quarterback he has not faced.. Pure ignorance.

Lets see what he has to say next week when picked apart like a Lineman on a 2 piece crispy with no sides.

Dude - we need to work on that Adams dude in their secondary hard. He was getting lit up all night.

Their secondary in general is hot garbage, minus DRC sometimes. I'll take ours 300x over theirs.

I hope that Payton doesn't want to show off and try to prove that his passing offense is the best. I don't want to see a game like yesterday against the Cards. Please remain balanced. The Saints running game is good when any or all three RB's get rolling.

Agreed. I would gladly take a 21-10 win over something like what I saw last night.

Aaron Rodgers kinda reminds me of an Aaron Brooks with a higher football IQ.

Minus the backwards pass and smiling every time he screws up. Minus terrible accuracy, too. :hallucinate:

I don't get the comparison. Rodgers is a lot more accurate. Handles pressure (the Wisconsin media) a lot better. Speaks well. Earns his paycheck (by NFL standards).

Is it because they both play/played in Green Bay?

No similarities with Brooks. JaMarcus Russell however is carrying the Aaron Brooks torch wonderfully.

I meant strictly on the field. Tall, lanky, elusive, bullwhip arm, lazer throws, but better decision making (football IQ).

Face it, Brooks certainly had his faults, but when Brooks was on his game he was every bit as awsome looking as Rodgers both throwing and running, IMO.

Brooks' problem was when he was off, he looked gawd-awful pathetic.

And I totally forgot about Brooks playing in Green Bay. Maybe the similarity is part subliminal?

Anyway, sorry to remind you folks about Gumby. Hope I don't get banned.

The difference is that Brooks was on his game about twice per season. In a good year.

Brooks was excellent in the two-minute drill, because his dumb arse didn't have time to think.

Re: Antrel Rolle thinks Rodgers > Brees

Rolle has been a flop since he was drafted. He finally turned into an average player once he was moved to FS. His great defense ranked 20th in total defense during the regular season and that certainly carried over into the postseason. So really... how much can you put into what he says? With that said, Rodgers was the number 1 fantasy quarterback this pass year and well... I wouldn't want to face him again either.

iceshack149 01-11-2010 06:35 PM

Re: Antrel Rolle thinks Rodgers > Brees

What we used to bemoan all the time here on B&G is that you never saw AB studying while the Saints defense was on the field. All you saw was this--->

I guess that I can see some physical resemblance but that is all. Rodgers is a really good QB. And...

Oh brother, I try to get away from him and they pull me back in!

Hilarious.
Behold the power of reverse psychology and positive thinking.

Funny thing about lying is if you say it enough, you eventually start to believe it.

carry on

That doesn't make sense- he compared two players. A compliment to AR only would have ended with I never want to play him again- he is great, etc etc. Why even bring Drew's name into it. Disagree bro- you can compliment one player without putting down another- not what he did here

He just went up against Rodgers two weeks in a row and i don't know if he has ever even gone up against Brees. Add to it that he knew right then they were coming here to face the Saints so Brees is already in his head. It never hurts to show a little confidence to your teammates. Especially after your secondary just got torched.

I think people are making way too much of this.

Not outright negatively, but basically calling it easy to face brees compared to AR. I think that is negative- I think it basically says Brees is nothing- IMHO.

He definitely should not have brought Drew up, but that is my opinion. Pisses me off, and I am just a fan- I am sure it lit a fire under some of our guys if they heard about it.

Re: Antrel Rolle thinks Rodgers > Brees

If this wasn't meant as a personal dig at Drew, Rolle would have picked Manning, Brady, etc. to call out vs. Rogers. You really think if they hadn't known they were playing the Saints that Rolle would have invoked the name of Breesus?

Aside from DRC, their secondary is crap and that's going to be re-exposed Saturday afternoon. DRC needs help back there so he can make his Asante Samuel-like gamble plays and not get burnt.

McFadden is garbage that got paid after a Super Bowl win - think Antwan Randle El on defense.

This is the same Zona secondary that let Santonio Holmes catch the winning TD in the Super Bowl in triple coverage. Minus Don Fransisco, who was about as good as Josh Bullocks or Kevin Keasviharn.
