Saints defense ranked #8 after first game.
If the SAINTS can rank 8th in defense and 6th in offense and still look as miserable as they did on Sunday, I have lost all belief in the field of statistics. There is no more order in the world. What\'s next, Louisiana ranks # 2 in politcian honesty? New Orleans declared the world\'s cleanest city? Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras picked as the next great vacation spot for Mormon families to spring break with their kids???
Some stats just don\'t have any bearing on reality... |

You have to give credit where credit is due, and last night was a great performance by both defenses. Philly in all fairness played a fantastic game defensively and if not for two unbelievable catches by Jurevicius, they were in that game. They had a couple opportunities to put points on the board early that would have changed their mentality in defense later in the game.
But, back to my original intent....in today\'s age of free agency and the myriad of movement in teams, Tampa has fielded a consistently dominant defense that would seem impossible. Back in the dynasty days you could see teams dominating like that simply because you could keep players for the better part of their careers and you built almost solely through the draft. Even though they have only one title to show for it, and even if they didn\'t have one, they have been a dominant defense for over 5 years in a row and deserve mention with the likes of the Steelers, Bears, etc... As much as I hate Warren Sapp and it pains me to say that it\'s the truth. I truly believe Tampa and Philly are in a class of their own in this league defensively and last night was a pleasure to watch, even if I was cheering for Philly. Same with the Titans/Raider game Sunday night. Great game to watch. |
