VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Edwards was brutal against Romo, I think he should take next week off!
Childress not worried over potential Edwards injury Posted: January 17th, 2010 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Brad Childress, Carl Eller, Minnesota Vikings, Ray Edwards Vikings DE Ray Edwards had himself a career day in Sunday’s 34-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the playoffs, but it ended on a low note. Edwards registered a career-high 3.0 sacks as the Vikings harrassed Cowboys QB Tony Romo for six sacks and many more hits, but left the game during the third quarter with what appeared to be a right knee injury. Edwards did return briefly — the FOX game broadcast reported he was fitted for a knee brace — but it was a short-lived return with the Vikings holding a sizeable lead. The Vikings appeared to exit the game without any other significant injuries, and coach Brad Childress didn’t show a great deal of concern over Edwards, who is a key for the defense opposite Jared Allen on the defensive line. “I’m not worried until I deal with the medical report,” Childress said. “I think he’ll be OK. There was no reason for him to come back in at that point.” Edwards’ sack total Sunday tied the franchise playoff record set by Carl Eller — in 1975 against the Cowboys. |

Well, if the Saints come out, and play the Vikes the way they played the Cards, it won't matter if he plays or not. This will be a monumental game, of historic preportions.

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Well it was either DE Edwards beast or OLB Ware beast. And we have Edwards beast to contend with. A challenge that is critical for Brees to operate as only he can. Just hope to goodness we don't over employ screens to overcome it.
Anyway for sure, the problems we will give the Vikes will be much greater. |

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Favre has played conservatively, for him, this whole season. If we can get up on them, he is capable of multiple interceptions, if he thinks he has to win the game. Quick start for a Saints win.
Wiley REAL OLD veteran against cerebral Brees and Payton. Should be a great game. |

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Edwards had a good game but the Cowgirls were missing blocking assignment left and right. They were not ready to play that game.

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Exactly. The Vikings did to Dallas the same thing Dallas did to us. Dallas missed way too many blitz pickups and lost alot of one on one matchups on the line. We will need to give Bushrod more help than we gave him against Ware. We'll have alot of max protection packages and trust in our receivers to mismatch against the Minny secondary. I think that is our strength anyways.
Win the line of scrimmage in this game and we win. |

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
I agree we need to protect Drew at all cost ..we go as far as he can take us..If we can run the ball it will make it that much easier to slow down their rush...

Re: VIKINGS RAY EDWARDS INJURY
Our quick screens should help that as well. We have shown all season long that we love the quick outs to the backs. I hope we use personnel groupings, alignments and play fakes that hint at these plays to open up greater down field opportunities. The ends, outside backers and secondary will have to respect the outside speed we have in the flat and collapse on that. Might make for some deep ball chances.
