His completion percentage has gotten progressively worse every year.
There, that little fact should piss off half this board. |

Brooks stats to date ...
+---------------------------------------+-----------------+ | Passing | Rushing | +----------+-----+---------------------------------------+-----------------+ | Year TM | G | Comp Att PCT YD Y/A TD INT | Att Yards TD | +----------+-----+---------------------------------------+-----------------+ | 2000 nor | 8 | 113 194 58.2 1514 7.8 9 6 | 41 170 2 | | 2001 nor | 16 | 312 558 55.9 3832 6.9 26 22 | 80 358 1 | | 2002 nor | 16 | 284 529 53.7 3574 6.8 27 15 | 61 256 2 | +----------+-----+---------------------------------------+-----------------+ | TOTAL | 40 | 709 1281 55.3 8920 7.0 62 43 | 182 784 5 | +----------+-----+---------------------------------------+-----------------+ Completion percentage is down over the past couple of years . Defenses are charting him and his yard average is down . Probably due to the fact he uses the safety receiver a lot , rather then forcing the throw . Running is down . Touchdowns are up by 1 , higher total if you factor attempts . 2002 might be factored by the appearance of Beerman and his ability to shorten the field , depending on how you want to read it ......... |

My real question isn\'t his numbers, they actually look ok.
Does it seem like he\'s playing smarter, more poised, more polished? I maybe a bit biased in how I see him... |

Things like what I believe you\'re looking for can\'t easily be quantified BMG, and thus, they can\'t be graphed.
I don\'t think that his decision-making ability, leadership, understanding of the offense, etc. have progressed much since he began starting. Contrarily, this play-making ability seems to have dropped off considreably from his first couple of games in late \'00 until now. To his credit, his INTs are down and in one game this season his completion percentage is way up. He threw a lot of TDs last season and for a good number of yards. He has traditionally been good at leading fourth quarter comebacks as well. I am a firm believer that teams begin to act like their leader over time. If Brooks has been pinned as the team leader this year, that to me would explain the lackadaisical and seemingly uninspired play at Seattle. |

Brooks looks like he is still struggling with how he wants to play the game .
Running - scrambling - playmaker quarterback or Precision pocket passer . After what I will say is 5 years in the league , Brooks is struggling with what will I be when I grow up. Brooks is of the Cunningham mold , Great mobility and a strong arm .The best example of the two styles was in comparing Montana to Young . My thought would be that defensive coordinators around the league will start to have a rule of thumb with Brooks , play up and force him to make the deep throw . Brooks can shred a cover 2 defense but has problems when they keep the under routes blanketed . Seattle blanketed the under routes and made receivers pay the piper , Tampa played the Saints in a zone package allowing the receivers to pick spots . The way to beat the Saints offense is to spy Deuce , man coverage on the receivers and blanket the under routes . Brooks passing style is the reason the screen pass does not work in New Orleans , Brooks needs a passing lane to throw the dart , the screen pass is thrown with touch over the heads of the rushing defense . Brooks is a quarterback that takes what the defense gives you . |
