Saints Linebacker Question
Saints Linebackers --
SLB 52 Hodge, Sedrick 53 Knight, Roger MLB 54 Smith, Darrin 56 Ruff, Orlando 58 Grant, Cie WLB 59 Rodgers, Derrick 50 Allen, James Currently the starting linebackers are: Sedrick Hodge, Darrin Smith, and Derrick Rodgers. These guys might and might not be able to get the job done this year, but if they don't I hope Haz and Venturi will give Cie Grant and Orlando Ruff an opportunity to play. I feel confident that Rodgers will be a good player. I think the only reason that Darrin Smith is starting is because he get's everyone in positon on the defense, but I feel Ruff could stuff the run better. To be honest, Sedrick Hodge is a complete mystery to me. All I know about Hodge is I never here anything about him, which can't be good. Samething with James Allen. We get Rodgers back this week and I'm looking forward to him playing. Cie Grant is hurt right now but I would love to see hm on the field. I also would like to see Orlando Ruff out there this week. If you were the coach what starting linebacker crew would you start and why?? |

Saints Linebacker Question
What is up with Cie? What exactly is his injury? Is he riding the bike at practice or is he able to take repitions and learn the position?
I was looking forward to seeing him play this year but I am now afraid he is not going to know the sytem to play. |

Saints Linebacker Question
I\'d start Smith, Rodgers, and Hodge, with Allen and Ruff being 1st off the bench.
Cie needs more time. Maybe mid-year or end of year like Allen last year. James Allen was a 3rd(?) Round draft pick. He was a LB that scouts knew needed a few years to develop into a stud. This is only year 2 so don\'t give up on this kid yet. If he keeps progressing he could be a really good player. Ditto Cie Grant. Two years and he may be our LB stud. With that being said, I still think the Saints go after a LB,CB and a DE next year via free agency or draft. Both are supposed to be loaded at the LB,CB spots. Howard can no longer be depended on. I see us drafting a DE to replace him, and hope Melvin develops like we expect. |
Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.

Saints Linebacker Question
I would prefer that the Saints draft the best player available at the time of their pick. If there happens to be ANY defensive player from Oklahoma available at the time, grab him, I don\'t care if it is Brandon Everage, Teddy Lehman, or Tommie Harris. I swear, that Sooner defense looks like a pro team.

Saints Linebacker Question
Charlie Clemons, Chris Claiborne, Derrick Rodgers
OH! You mean of players we actually have on the team. Well, I\'d switch things all up and go to the 3-4, like this: DL: Lumm0x, Subguy, BnB (with a name like Subguy he fits right in with our lunch bunch) LBs: Saintfan, Pak, Joe, FW CBs: Tweeky, Billy S: Whodat, Gator - Cajun coverage baby! |

Saints Linebacker Question
Speaking for myself you have just put a LB on the DL, but my biggest concern would be Joe on the LBer corp. I don\'t think he can stop the run or cover anything. Although I guess it would be no different than Sedrick Hodge, so what the hell, let him play.

Saints Linebacker Question
From what I\'ve seen of the linebackers we have this year, at 6\'2\" 325 lbs I could fall down and make as many tackles as they do. And do a damned sight better job closing the hole too! LOL

Saints Linebacker Question
This is too funny of a read. You\'ve got me, an ex-safety, up on the line. You\'ve got Joe falling all over the place. And I fear that our two starting CB\'s might forget the action on the field, and turn on each other.

Saints Linebacker Question
Since neither Billy nor I am ever wrong, we just turn and blame our safeteys for blown assignments.
