Shockey misses final Saints practice
Associated Press METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey missed practice Friday with a sore right knee. Shockey Shockey also did not participate in team drills the previous two days and couldn't make Friday's final full workout before Sunday's NFC Championship game against Minnesota. The eight-year veteran from Miami had three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in last week's victory over Arizona, but hurt his knee on a 17-yard TD reception. During the season, he had 48 receptions for 569 yards and three scores. David Thomas, the other tight end who sees significant action for the Saints, caught 35 passes this season, but none against the Cardinals last week. Cornerback Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring) did not practice either, and linebacker Anthony Waters was excused so he could attend the funeral of Gaines Adams in South Carolina. All-Pro safety Darren Sharper and wide receiver Robert Meachem did practice. Coach Sean Payton was confident Meachem, one of the team's primary deep threats, will go on Sunday after recovering from an ankle sprain. Re: Shockey misses final Saints practice
Shockey takes part in walkthrough, expected to play Saints TE Jeremy Shockey is making good progress with a knee injury that has kept him out of practice all week, and it appears he will be able to play Sunday against the Vikings, according to team sources. Shockey, who’s a key cog in the Saints’ attack, took part in a walkthrough Saturday and was moving much better, the sources said. Shockey will work out again Sunday afternoon to test the knee before the NFC Championship Game, but there is a sense among players and coaches that he will be able to play. |

I've been listening to that Heart of the City song all day. Man, that thing really pumps you up huh? Feel like I'm in the huddle... They should mic Drew up for it tomorrow, so the entire Dome can do it with them!

Re: Shockey misses final Saints practice
Shockey doesn't need to practice. He's a veteran player and he knows our system. No need to aggrivate the knee before the game. Shockey will be fine and play well tomorrow.

Shockey will be a man possessed. Shockey will carry linebackers, and runover DBs, like he's on fire! Tomorrow, he lives up to the hype, and his reputation. Between him and Vilma, "The U" will be represented well. Say whatever you want about the university, but man, they put out some MONSTER NFL players.

Re: Shockey misses final Saints practice
We need this guy today. I hope all of our receivers and tight ends bring their set of good hands today; no drops! The Vikings have some weak areas in the secondary and we need to expose them.
