The fact that too many players come to mind when you're lookin' for an MVP is a great thing! I think the entire team effort was outstanding, and I applaud the whole team for sticking together and playing with one goal in site!

My game ball goes to the WHOLE TEAM!!! I thought they all played well and picked each other up! Each of those choices would be good individually, but we had clutch plays when needed. WHO DAT

Ummm...You do realize that both of AP's fumbles were recovered by the Vikings, right? It was Old Man River's 3 turnovers that cost you guys. Not A.P.

Not to mention he gained about 13 yards on one of those fumbles.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

I had to go with co-MVP's in this game. Pierre and Hartley. I voted Pierre, but there is no way I could not mention Hartley after making the biggest kick in Saints' history. Pierre was solid with 130+ all purpose yards and two scores.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

in afterthought, I think you have to put McCray on that list of possible MVP's. McCray brought the wood on Favre. I don't think we would have gotten that kind of physical play and damage on Favre if Grant was in there. Bobby McCray nearly took Favre out of the game and I definitely think all those hits on Favre had an impact on the outcome of this game.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

i would have to say the 2:00 min warning on in was really the most exciting part of the game. Ill have to give it up to tomas moorestead! this game was a battle for field position and moorestead did his job.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

I have not read all the posts in this thread, and this has probably been said. I voted for Hartley, but the MVP could have been any one on the team. What we saw yesterday was a true team effort. Sure, there were some big plays made, but the team as a whole, offense, defense and special teams all had an equal share in this victory. Without terrific plays from all, the game is lost. So my game ball goes not to one player, but to the whole team. It will be the same in two weeks, everyone will come to play 110%.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

the biggest reason we won this game is because of the turnovers

but the reason we got so many opportunities to create turnovers is because morstead put the nail in the coffin corner on his punts

morstead is arguably our best punter ever and its only his first season.....he was easily our best draft pick this year and he was probably one of the most hated because of the 2 picks we actually used to trade up and pick him

i guess i expected him to carry an accoustic guitar around 24/7 and drive his ford truck while drinking some nasty beer with cowboy boots and a hat never forgetting to chew on a piece of straw with his tight jeans hiked up and squeezing extra tight in all the "right" areas all the while singing some terrible country song and screaming to everyone that he passes "YOU GOT A PURDY MOUTH"

Re: Who Was the MVP?

Too tough to name just 1. Morstead, Hartley, Vilma, Porter, don't forget Fujita recovering the fumble on our own 9 yardline right before halftime that would have given the Vikings the lead. PT with that first TD run after the catch and his big return to start OT after Roby is injuried. Just too many to name just 1 or even 2.

Really? He only placed 1 punt inside the 10.

people around these parts were not happy that we traded up to get a "freaking punter"

i liked the pick but not trading another pick to move up and get him.....not only were people upset about the pick, but about getting rid of extra picks to get him

you know what i meant......his punts made the vikings drive from a long field every single time

only once did they have a short field and thats when we punted from our own endzone

morstead did a great job dropping punts inside the 20

he punted 7 times on sunday and dropped 4 of them inside the 20.....had 0 touchbacks and only 3 punts were returned for only 15 yards including 1 that was only returned to the 10 yardline

also almost all of his kickoffs were touchbacks....i remember more often than not, percy harvin and chester taylor were running backwards to try and make the catch in the back of the endzone

Not quite sure why you would think this? Peterson had no fumbles LOST! Berrian, Farve, and Harvin each had a LOST fumble. Peterson also had 3 touchdowns and 122 yards rushing.

Maybe it should be Brad Childress for his great calls in the last minute and 12 men penalty and his teams lack of discipline.

I think it's the Saints defense, as they caused all those fumbles and int's, and beat the **** out of Favre. I know you said MVP, as in player, but I guess the kicker is as good as any, since he didn't choke like many of the other kickers *cough*Kaeding* cough did.

I think my favorite teams MVP was Peyton Manning:doh: with a close second by Pierre Garcon

I think the MVP was the 12th Man.

Re: Who Was the MVP?

I went with Thomas, his running was inspired, especially that td run. Second place would HAVE to be Porter. That interception, saved the game for us. He misses that pick, and Vikings kick the field goal. So I would actually have to call a tie between those two.

i am a die hard Saints i am glad we won the game! However, we got away with some very questionable calls by the refs!

tracy porter also missed an open field tackle earlier in that same series on 3rd down that would've given us the ball back a lot sooner

he played well but his biggest isssue coming out of college was his ability to tackle in the open field......

had he stopped berrian we wouldnt have had to go into overtime

The Vikings were the beneficiaries of some very questionable calls against the Saints, as well. It went both ways. Officiating was downright horrible in the game.

The play I had in mind was the Favre/Peterson handoff exchange just before the end of the 1st half. HUGE swing in momentum.

just some football knowledge......QBs are taught not to let go of the ball....to hold it tight until the running back TAKES the ball from him

i blame the handoff on favre because he let the ball go without having peterson take it from him

I'll have to go with Choupique on this one. Without the 12th man in the huddle there would have been no farve pass, no interception.

Trudat, early in the game the questionable calls favored the Vikes in a big way. Later they favored the Saints. It balanced out in the end.

Excellent. Thats true. I'm surprised more haven't said this. I guess its because most of us old farts haven't played since HS.

Al Bundy syndrome perhaps?

I agree. Once again, I went with Thomas. Just my opinion.

But I have to point out, that Porter wasn't the only one missing tackles in this game. It looked like they went to the Mike McKenzie School of Arm Tackling.
