An honest question
Who here thinks Aaron Brooks is a top five QB in the NFL right now, today? No assumptions - I'm not looking to make any argument - I just want to know. I think Billy will immediately answer yes, but I wonder what Saintfan will say. More importantly, I wonder what guys like Lumm0x, Pak, Joe, BnB, FW, Subguy, etc. have to say. Is he a top fiver RIGHT NOW?

Thanks for answering for me -- I know how you like that when people do that for you.
Aaron is not in the top five but he\'s in the top 10 in my book and I\'m going to call you on this one. If you say he\'s not in the top 10 then name me 9 current NFL QB\'s that you would trade Aaron for!! That\'s what I thought !!! |

In an effort to consolidate, I\'ll respond to a comment you made in another thread by saying I\'ve never said Brooks was flawless...I\'ve never come close. What I HAVE done for the better part of a year is defend him against unfair comparisons or defend him where he\'s being held to a different or higher standard...it\'s that simple.
As far as this ranking you\'re so hung up on I\'d go as far as top 10. He does make mistakes, his mechanics aren\'t perfect and he\'s not exactly the second coming of Johnny Unitis either, but he doesn\'t have to be perfect (no one is) and his mechanics don\'t hvae to be textbook (few if any QB\'s are \"textbook) and while being a vocal leader is a good thing he should not be required or expected to shoulder it all. Yeah, his ability to smile when the chips are down has upset a lot of people. These people thing he\'s sittin on the sidelines grinin and drinkin\' Gatorade and not doing much else. For those people I sumbit the following from an article written this week for the TIMES-PICAYUNE by Jeff Duncan: Stallworth\'s performance was one of several lowlights in the Saints\' opener. It also drew the ire of quarterback Aaron Brooks, who chided Stallworth on the sideline to focus on his catches and implored him to come back for the ball after the initial play breaks down. \"I did yell at him a couple times and tell him that I don\'t care how many balls you drop, I\'m going to keep coming to you,\" Brooks said. \"That\'s how much trust I\'ve got in him. I believe that he can get it done. I never stopped going to him. Every day\'s not going to be perfect, but the good thing is that he learned from it.\" Now I\'d bet most of you read that article. Funny how no one has mentioned that as a positive sign. Since so many people insist he \"Lead us Charlie Brown\" I figure someone would have stepped up by now. Silly me. So again, I\'d go with top 10 with a bullet. The best is yet to come for AB. I\'m glad some of you aren\'t making the decisions. If you were we\'d miss it. <--- |

Top 5? No
Top 10? No Are there 9 other quarterbacks I would trade for Brooks? No, because I\'m not willing to sacrifice tomorrow for today. There are some good QB\'s on the downside of their career that are better today, but are still aging and on the downside of thier careers. |

First off let me say I do not think Brooks is the reason this team sucks as bad as it does right now. However I do think there are a number of QB\'s who could come in to the saints offense and get more out of it. Definitely not top 5, but when you get to the 10-15 spot it is a toss up.

Rattay?
You can\'t just throw that out without explaining why. Being a Tech grad myself, I\'m intrigued as to \"why\". Do you know something that us normal posters don\'t? I hope you realize that this has the potential to give Billy an embolism. [Edited on 12/9/2003 by BlackandBlue] |

(Greek: embolismos, from the verb, emballein, \"to throw in\") LOL....Don\'t try to confuse me with those big words you learned at Tech. We all know NLU is what\'s happening.... But really I do not wish to throw in anything about FWtex master list of QB\'s. I\'ll just let him hang himself -- [Edited on 12/9/2003 by BillyCarpenter1] |

Top 5 -----no
top 10------no Does he have talant? yes Will he ever pay off? Not sure. He does make me wonder if he can grasp the offense. At times he has looked like a probowler but it hasn\'t been lately. |

When Aaron takes us to the Super Bowl - I\'m going to buy you guys a bottle of your favorite liquor to celebrate. Then after I get you drunk I\'m gonna beat the hell out of ya for not believing in my man Brooks --
