Likewise. Two of the elite offenses in the league headed by to great quarterbacks... should be one hell of a Superbowl.

Thanks ... and Congrats to the Colts as well. This should be a great matchup. Peyton learned QB-ing at an early age practicing at Saints practice facility under Jim Mora. He's a wily savvy vet now and probably the best QB ever. Brees ain't too shabby himself. It seems that the big man upstairs may be looking out for us. It'll be one for the ages!

The Colts were my team before the Saints were born. Unitas Berry Matte Volk Mackey. Great teams. Bert Jones was one of my favorites too.

If they weren't playing the Saints I'd be pulling for them.

Yea LB, but Peton would sometimes work with the team when he was in high school.

He was doing the games with Jim Henderson and still involved with the saints in some capacity.

Thanks Colt fan. I'm glad you found us. I can honestly say I have no ill feelings toward the Colts or their fans whatsoever. I look forward to a great matchup between 2 great teams.

Colt84, what would you say is Indy's greatest weakness or vulnerability going into this matchup with the Saints?

What I want to know is what is up with those little burgers ya'll call food.

White Castle? I think the name is? Wow. Nasty.

Man, that ain't food. You folks up in Indi should eat some ettouffe or gumbo instead of a hockey puck.

:p

When I lived and worked in Indi, I noticed that White Castle manufacturing plant had a REALLY weird smell. Kinda like a pogey plant. WTF are they doing in that place?

;;;;

Kidding aside...

The Dolts are a good team, but we stack up really well. This should be a barn burner. I can't wait.

My first encounter with those little hamburgers was right there in NO at a place called Royal Castle about 50 years ago...is it not around anymore?

Without question, running the ball. However, we have been able to get yards running when we absolutely have to (which has been the difference between this season and the previous two). I just miss the days of Edge and Addai's first season when we were a power running team.

Our secondary looked a little questionable during the Jets game (like Braylon getting that 60 or 80 yard touchdown pass), but that was probably due to Powers being out. Regardless, our secondary has been pretty tough all year so I am not concerned too much with that.

What is your answer to that question with the Saints?

Haha yeah I enjoy White Castle occasionally, however the chicken sandwiches are much better than the burgers.

You have to understand, Indy is not a very cultured city. People like their fast food and chain restaurants here. It is a shame, but we do have a good creole place called Yats.

Welcome ColtsFan and here's to a great Superbowl. I have cousins that live up in Indy so there has been some fun family ribbing with this matchup. I'd say the Saints biggest problem is run defense especially the cut back run but since Indy struggles with running the ball all should be well. On paper it should be an airial shootout but you just never know. Good luck next year but it's our turn this year.

I've always thought of the Colts as a class organization... looks as if it actually rubs off on their fans as well. I'm sure there will be some friendly squabbles, but I highly doubt it will reach anywhere close to Bears, Cowboys, and certain Vikings fan debates we've had here.

Can't wait!

Welcome ColtsFan1984 and Jabba. I was very concerned what was underneath your I come in peace. LOL. You have an immense QB. But we like our QB too. It will not be all about offense and both teams have to have their A-game ready on defense and ST to win. Really look forward to it.

Re: Colts fan here, I come in peace

It's rough for me a little bit...the Colts are my AFC team. They have been since before kindergarten...when they were the Baltimore Colts, complete with Bert Jones and some God-awful teams. I have pictures of Christmas around the first grade with me wearing a Colts jersey and a Colts helmet complete with chinstrap. But, there is NO WAY the Colts have my loyalty with this, however...the Colts have won 2 already, so it's our turn. I'll always love the Colts, but this is one I can't even come close to be pulling for the Colts. Good luck and may this game be as classy as both of our organizations are...I'm very fortunate to have both my teams in the Super Bowl...may this be the trend for the next 10-15 years. Geaux Saints!

PS...Payton Manning IMHO is the greatest QB to play the game, and I do expect him to give our defense headaches for 60 minutes on February 7th.

skymike 01-26-2010 06:41 PM

Re: Colts fan here, I come in peace

no need to disclaimer yourself here. This is the friendly Saints board.

I'm disapointed that after all these years, Archie Manning basically has no choice but to pull for the Colts, even though he also loves New Orleans and the Saints.

No one really loses in this game, IMO. Its been a great year, and this is who I wanted in the SB all along. Both teams are going to give their best efforts.

I know this could be a Colts blowout, but the Saints have surprised people all year. I believe the pre-season talking heads had us 9-7.

I have to say that the Colts are my second favorite team so its going to be crazy even crazier if the Saints win it.

Colts win I will be happy for Manning. Saints win I'll be happy for myself!!!

What is your answer to that question with the Saints?

Defense;
The Saints run defense has allowed alot of yards on the ground this year. Especially when the opponent spreads the defense and gets a back around the corner on a pitchout or delay handoff. Another vulnerability is our young CB Tracy Porter. Although he has been clutch with big plays he has also gotten beat plenty. I can see Peyton throwing to his side alot.

Offense;
When they're on, they're on. Give Brees 2.5+ seconds in the pocket and he'll march the ball. If a defense can put the Saints in 3rd and long situations they're going to win some of those battles and cause the offense to sputter. But realize that doesn't happen often.

Colts and Saints matchup pretty close when you weigh it all out. But IMO, I think the Saints have a slight edge because even though our defense can give up alot of yardage, they also create fumbles and INT's at an alarming rate. Especially when all our defensive starters are on the field.

Thanks Colts fan! When I was 8 yrs old, my family moved to Baltimore (long time ago) My heart remained with the Saints and I also cheered for the home team here, the Colts. My step dad LOVED the Colts like a maniac. Bert Jones, lydell mitchel...man...
Then the Colts left and I had only the Saints again.
Peyton will go down as the greatest QB in modern history (unless Brees can win more games than anyone in the next 10 years) I do hope that no players get hurt, and that it is a great game.

freebo 01-26-2010 09:15 PM

Hi everyone! Colts fan here - Peace

First of all I am a Colts fan and I think you will soon find out that I am not the trolling kind of fan.

Congratulations on your season! I called into the NFL Network earlier this year when we were both undefeated, the day after the Patriots/Saints game. I talked with Rich Gannon and Adam Shine about this possible matchup. I told them that I didn’t think either team would go undefeated and that anything could happen, but I like the matchup between the Colts and the Saints, if this game were to ever happen. And now, here we are.

Can I be the first fan to say that this is a little awkward? Peyton and Reggie are playing their hometown team, with Addai just down the road in Houston. Our top 3 guys on offense are from your area. To top it off, I can’t find a single reason not to like your team or your fans. Everyone is picking my Colts to win and I prefer being the underdog.

This should be a great game and it could go back in forth all day long. If Powers plays then I think we will hold your receivers in check as well or better than anyone has all year. The odd stat is how many times Drew Brees has had 200 yards passing and three or more TD’s. Your defense has definitely been opportunistic getting turnovers and putting points on the board once you get those turnovers. Maybe this will be the key stat in the game.

Sentimentally, you guys are the favorites for obvious reasons. What your city has been through and to get here is what they write stories and make movies about. What I fear is that my squeaky clean Colts will be labeled the big bad Colts in these stories, if the Saints were to go on and win.

Maybe one of you will reply to this post in a way to make me not like your team. Actually I am asking for you to make me not like you somehow. Talk some trash to me. Get me worked up. It’s a whole lot more fun to beat the Patriots and Jets who have fans talking trash all the time. You guys are too damn quiet!!!

Oh yeah, and Great Board!! Nice layout. Add some blue in with it and it would be perfect. :D

Re: Hi everyone! Colts fan here - Peace

It's kind of hard to talk trash about a team that has won the last 25 or 26 games that they have wanted to win. We are a decided underdog and like it that way.

The Mannings have a long and deep history here. I used to watch Archie when he was the Saints quarterback. He would take the ball from center and start running for his life. Luckily for him he was pretty elusive.

Welcome to the board. I have only good things to say about Payton and the Colts team and organization and was an even bigger fan of Dungy.

I can assure you that our Payton and team will show up and play their hearts out, but the advantage from experience and from talent is with the Colts.

However, as the Vikings and especially Favre, have found out, the Mo Jo and Karma and Voo Doo and destiny is with our guys, so we will still have to play you and not just concede the game.

Colts fan who used to live in North Dakota, Minneapolis for 1 year, and now Atlanta. I think I know more people here who are Saints fans than Falcons fans. Thanks for knocking Grandpa Farve out! Saints was the team from the NFC I wanted to win, but now gotta cheer against you! Should be a great game with two great teams.

Joseph Addai and Matt Stover, Louisiana college players, will come back to hurt their old state.:)

SaintPauly 01-27-2010 01:44 AM

Re: Colts fan here, I come in peace

The Mora Bowl indeed? Who would have thought 25 years ago, that these two teams would ever meet in the Superbowl? I would say nobody.

This is going to be a helluva match up, in all aspects of the game. Special teams could decide this one. It could also end the same way as the Vikes game, by a deciding field goal.

Two "teams", playing in the superbowl, in this day and age? No drama, for the reporters to use, to get some ratings? Just a game, between two great teams, with two stand up guys at QB, and no one going to jail for some stupid reason? What will ESPN talk about for two weeks? :)
