Dear Minnesota Vikings Fans
After listening to NFL on Sirius for since Sunday and all of the Vikings fans making comments about the Best team did not win, or should have won.
How do you define the "Best Team"? Are you going by roster? If that was the case then why play the game? We can look at the rosters in the start of the season and go directly to the Super Bowl? Why play the Super Bowl we can just appoint a champion by roster. Are you going off of season Stats? If this is the case then you do not have the best team. Are you going off of game stats? If this is the case then you did not win. Turnovers negates any stat in existence. A 99 yard run to the end zone is negated if it is fumbled on the 1 yard like and the ball is turned over. A 70 yard pass is negated when the ball is intercepted. Are you going off of record? If this is the case then you do not have the best team. Honestly, anyone who has played the game or has participated in Team Sports, understands the "best team" is not defined by any of the above. The "best team" is the team that won. The team that won was the "best team" that game. It is not about records or stats or roster. It is about the team that showed up on Game day and played the best ball, made the fewest mistakes. At this level it is more about not making mistakes then who out preforms the other. To the News person that asked one the Saints Players "would you say that the Saints won today or would you say that the Vikings lost today?" That was one of the most asinine questions you could ever ask and shows you do not have enough understanding of the game to report on it. I suggest you try the weather. The New Orleans Saints Won. They showed up on Sunday 24 Jan 2010 in the Super Dome and played the best football out of the two teams, they made the fewest mistakes. The game of football is "everything". Everything from stats, to huddles, to composure, to making decisions during the game. How can you sit and make the statement about the Vikings were the team that should have won? Their ball control was terrible, their coaching, bad clock management decisions, at one point they did not know how many players should have been in the huddle. re you going to say they had the best quarterback? Not by a long shot pezo. Not by stats and certainly not by intelligence. Any quarterback worth his salt know you do not throw across your body into coverage. The New Orleans Saints won. They won by making the fewest mistakes, and that is the plain undeniable truth. I invite anyone who has the time to search out all the BS about did the Vikings loose or did the Saints win. Find all of the whiny Vikings fans who make the statement about "who should have won".... And direct them to this thread so they can be educated on the game of foot ball and how a winner is determined. |

Totally agree x.
The team that makes the plays when it's time to make those plays is the best team. I'm not implying that the Vikes suck. On the contrary, they have an excellent team that against an inferior opponent could have overcome the obvious deficiencies. Unfortunately, one loses to a better team when that team makes you pay for your mistakes. And one can't be called the better team when one makes 8 huge mistakes in a game just on one side of the ball. We won't go into the 16 or so mistakes on the other side of the ball. Give credit to the strategy of the opposing team, Vikings fans. The Saints permitted your team to gain lots of yards because of your propensity to be careless with the ball. Your core weaknesses were attacked and exploited, causing you to lose the game. Your team's decision making is suspect and your team's arrogance that it can do more than it is capable compounded the problem. Plus, there's a kharmic justice in rejecting this cult of personality created around Brett Favre. You bought it, Vikes fans, you broke it, you own it. |

At this level in the playoffs when the number 1 and number 2 seed are playing ALL teams are fairly equal. MIN and NO were more equal than most going into this game.
Exactly my point, arguably we may have made more or less mistakes. However we made the least crucial mistakes. Which is what the Score Board always shows. |

Re: Dear Minnesota Vikings Fans
Great post. I had one Vikqueen fan tell me we got "lucky" to win the game.
I told him actually they were "lucky" to still be in the game. In the game of IF we could play: IF the Saints would have recovered some of those other fumbles. IF the Saints receivers would have held onto a few of those throws. IF Porter runs outside after that interception. IF Thomas doesn't stumble on the return in OT. IF the proper call would have been made for roughing the passer when a Vikings player did the same exact thing to Brees (launch and drive him into the ground in OT) as was done to Favre. He stopped me after these. |

Re: Dear Minnesota Vikings Fans
If you look back at any talking head, and I don't care who, ESPN, FOX, NFLN, any of them, you can bet that most of the commentators said that the team that makes the fewest mistakes, commits the fewest turnovers will win the game. I think we all said it on this board, I know I did. That is exactly what happened. These teams were so evenly matched that there was no way to predict the winner ahead of time. And the score reflected that. We won by committing the fewest errors, period. If we had turned the ball over five times, we would have lost. It is as simple as that.

Re: Dear Minnesota Vikings Fans
Real talk, the Saints and Vikings were each other's biggest challenge. It just so happens that the Saints overcame that challenge. The playoffs is a totally different monster altogether. What you done in the regular season doesn't always translate to what you do in the playoffs - and that includes stats and W/L record. In the regular season, you always have another game to play. In the playoffs, you've got to earn another chance to play. In other words, WIN OR GO HOME!
As for that Vikings fan (as well as some of the talking heads in the media) who is so quick to call any Saints win a 'lucky' win. Question: Did anybody call Carolina's win over the Rams in the playoffs "LUCKY" when Steve Smith torched them for the game winner in OT on their SB run? Has anyone called Tennessee's playoff win against Buffalo "LUCKY"? You know the one, the "Music City Miracle". I don't want to get into the "Immaculate Reception" or the "Miracle in the Meadowlands" or (sigh!) the Dirty Birds' "Big Ben" play. When it involves the Saints winning, it a "LUCKY" win. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? Face it, the Saints beat you. PERIOD! Even if they lost there would be no excuses coming from us. There is always next year. This time, for us, THIS YEAR IS NEXT YEAR!! To quote RNR Hall-of-Famers Run-DMC: "It's Like That and That's The Way It Is". |

Man, that's like saying "I'm not a racist, but..." If you have to preface a question with "don't get mad at me for asking", then I'd say it's a safe assumption that it is a stupid question! |

Re: Dear Minnesota Vikings Fans
Steeler fan here. Just wanted to say congrats first off.
Secondly, thought you should know that Vikings fans whined and b!tched after we beat them in October. Never mind Favre's fumble and Taylor's dropped pass-turned-Pick-6...Nooo, it was the paid-off ref's fault for calling a blatant tripping call on an earlier play. Forget all the plays our defense made at the right time and how the Viking's offense went into total meltdown at the end of the game. Nope, the "Vikings out-played the Steelers and would have won if the refs hadn't give those cheaters the game." What a pantywaste fanbase. Saints fans, you're not alone in dealing with these primadonna fans. Best to let them waste away and play an endless blame game while you concentrate on winning Super Bowl 44. Good luck. |
