Could not be more disappointed in the Saints.....

4,000 tickets for us? Seriously, out of the 12-13,000 they got? I mean is Tom Benson that greedy that all he releases to the season ticket holders is 4,000 tickets? I guess he can make money off of them so he wants to keep them for packages or what not.

I guess I need to do some research on what is normal, but that seems like a load or crap to me.

It's a shame that the Super Bowl has nothing to do with the real fans even though without us supporting a team like the Saints for 44 years there would be no Super Bowl.

P.S. I am just bitter right now that I didn't win the lottery.

Sorry to hear you aren't happy but this too shall pass.

Geaux Saints.

Re: Could not be more disappointed in the Saints.....

I believe it's pretty standard...the Super Bowl is all about money...I can't stress that enough. Benson probably made some arrangements when he took over the team back in the mid 80's, and now it's come full circle. No worries, though...there is NO HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE in the Super Bowl. All the glamor folks will be attending this one, but who's to say that we can't have an a__load of fans in Miami making noise from beyond. Let's see how the Colts ownership distributes their tickets and we can go from there on this one. This is brand new territory for our management/ownership, and if I owned the Saints, all my buddies that's helped me out in the 20+ years of owning this franchise would get guaranteed tickets, no questions asked. Yes, the fans deserve much more than a lousy 4K ticket grab, but you must consider the venue. This ain't no normal game.

Again, I am just bitter! :)

I am going to just start watching EBay. Hopefully the prices come down a bit now that the tickets from the teams have flooded the market.

4k out of 60? so 1 in 15 loyal season ticket holders gets a chance to buy?
Ridiculous

They should all be up for grabs with no preference to certain individuals.
equal allotments for both teams and first come first serve or lottery for all.

thats a normal number. If you are looking at going, tickets are always cheaper in the parking lot

Friends of mine who have attended Super Bowls have told me that the Super Bowl is really not worth the time, hassle, and expense. Most of the people at the Super Bowl could care less about either team and are there merely to be seen. It won't feel anything close to a home game or even a road game because at least then you get to see the passion of the other team's fans.

The real party is going to be in New Orleans. One minute after the Saints win, almost every Saints fan in that stadium is going to wish they were in the French Quarter for the celebration. It will be a party like no one has ever seen before. It will be a raw, passionate and authentic outpouring of joy and happiness from several hundred thousand people who actually love the Saints, unlike what it will feel like in Miami. No wonder some charter flights are going to leave two hours after the game so the passengers can get back for the celebration.

If you still want to go to the game, wait until next week when the online sites like Stubhub start dropping their prices. You should find a ticket under a thousand. Then find a reasonably priced hotel an hour north of Miami. Good luck.

I understand that, and trust me if I cannot get a ticket there is no way I am going. I am going to be in New Orleans unless I can get tickets in advance and make plans.

I get that people at the game don't care about it, but I do and I will care if I am there. I don't need others to care to have a good time. I just want to be there because I, like many others around here, live and die with this team. I always wanted to experience a Super Bowl and why not check that off my list the one time my Saints are in it?

Thanks for the information about the ticket prices. I am defintely going to keep my eyes on the prices and make a decision probably Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Its a bit of an exaggeration to say people are only there to be seen. However it is certainly a different crowd than a game at the superdome. The crowd will be football fans, almost all of them will have a team they are cheering for, however many of them are cheering for the 2 large they have on the game.

It's an older crowd (not sure if that's good or bad for you) and there is tons to do the week of, and day of the game. However once the game is over, you'd probably wish you were in new orleans. There won't be tons to do except go for a beer then go home.

However it is a very unique experience, good to do once, I suppose, but go because you have a few days of things planned, not just the 3 hours. If all you care about is the 3 hours, then just go to bourbon.

As for ticket prices, not many buyers go to the stadium looking for tickets, however tons go to sell tickets. Compared to websites, it's very much a buying market ... if you call paying a grand for a ticket a buyers market.

I heard on the drive home that they were thinking of increasing the number. I'm not sure who makes that decision though. It was just a quick news update.

So there would be a good chance of getting a decent deal in front of the stadium the day of?

I am not sure I want to take the chance but it's a thought.

Who knows, one day that may change, but think about it. That hesitation you have is common, and the very reason why they are cheaper there.

Sorry bout your feelings being hurt, but this is the time when Owners are looking to get the best bang out of their long time investment.
If Benson is releasing 4,000 you'd have to almost guarantee Jerry Jones only releases about 200..
It's most likely standard practice to have more available for corporate heads, CEO's, Celebrities, and others that can afford tickets that can sell for as much as $40,000 for a Superbowl ticket..

Most regular fan's don't even go because of how over priced they are and they tend to bargain shop when at that time Stadiums, owners, etc are all trying to milk as much money out of this big game as possible, they want people wealthy enough to buy a $40.00 Pizza Pie, $20.00 cheese Pretzel, 200.00 shrimp and steak dinner, and other jacked up priced items...
Not to mention chances are you'll be seated next to or near a Big time Artist, Actor, Actress, Athlete, CEO etc so allowing just a bunch of wild fan's into that game which allows them to gawk all up in those people faces and asking for autographs, and just being star struck the entire time come with a price, It's like going to an award Ceremony in some ways.

Found out some more info on the Tickets situation:
The Saints got 12,000 Tickets from the league to do as they please, the first set of tickets of course will go to Personnel, family and friends of players, coaches, staff, owners, etc, most likely some political figures.
Some will be sold most likely for a very high price; And what left got put in a lottery off, this is how all teams do, Saints didn't do anything dishonest or low down, it appears The League throws some tickets at the winning teams and they do what they can to please as many people as possible.. Obviously you can't please everybody.

I already knew that, and I've never been. Just a lucky guess.

From a pure football view, the Super Bowl is the lamest game. Hype X 10 for 10 hours before. Reporters asking "If you were a tree" questions...etc.

Douchebag celebrities, Beautiful People, corporate suits, everywhere. 25 minute halftime, featuring somebody I'm supposed to care about. If you're lucky something entertaining happens-- a boob, or Prince's silhouetted guitar ding dong might happen, but nothing meriting my linemen stiffening up in the locker room waiting for the props to leave the field. I care no more about the Super Bowl halftime show now, than I did when it featured Up With People. (younguns look them up)

Ticket prices that could feed a family in Mexico for 2 years. New Orleans will be a much better place to watch it. And afterward, we can greet the Saints at the Airport.

I've been to 4 SB's. Obviously, my team hasn't been a participant. It's ok, but my experience is tainted because I've not had any skin in the game.

I took a date to the Steelers-Vikings game (she was from Pittsburgh, new to NO) but even with that going for me, I didn't fare too well. So no, the SB is not as hot a time as I had anticipated.

Each game was good, but...tv at home would have been better. With all the tv timeouts, it gets WAY boring. (plus the NFL is trying to sell you something constantly that it gets intrusive.)

I WON THE LOTTERY! but i actually didnt. my cousin has 19 tickets under his name, including mine. his account has been open since 2005. and they offered us 2 freakin super bowl tickets. 2 out of 19 is not a good ratio. i was expecting at lest 4 or maybe 6 tickets, NOT 2. thats got to be one of the top 3 biggest loads of cow manure i have ever seen in my life.

Budsdrinker 01-27-2010 09:14 AM

Re: Could not be more disappointed in the Saints.....

Yeah I'm disappointed that I didn't win the lottery but I blame the NFL for only giving 17% of the tickets to the teams playing. The Saints have to take care of their sponsors also. Sure they make close to $2000 off of me with tickets, parking and concessions but think about the people in the suites that spend $10-$50 thousand a year or the sponsors. They owe them too. Like I said I'm disappointed I didn't get picked but that's just the luck of the draw and as usual my luck sucks. Don't blame the Saints, blame the corporate NFL.

They got almost 13,000. Dolphin Stadium (or whatever the name is at this moment) holds 74,000. The teams participating get 17.5% or about 13,000. I actually have seen one site that said they got closer to 14,000 based on the capacity being higher. They could give every player, worker and janitor at the Saints facility 10 tickets and that would probably be about 3,000 tickets. (10 times 300 employees) Then they could give out another 3,000 to whomever, make up a name here. THAT SHOULD LEAVE 7-8,000 tickets for the fans! Where are the other tickets going?

Seriously?

Benson still rapes the state for his $15 million a year just to keep the Saints here. He even collected in 2006 when money was a little tight after the rain. He also rents out over priced "contracted" office space to add to his bulging bankroll.

Now you want us to stomach the fact that he can't find another 3000-4000 tickets for SEASON TICKET holders?

Benson is just part of the problem- 17.5% to participating teams is a f***ing joke. It's 34% for the other 30 teams. What did anyone associated with Seattle or St. Louis do to deserve even one ticket?

Make it 35% each team, with 20% mandatory to the fans.

Sorry people ALL professional sports are about the money. Most normal people are left out in the cold to watch & root from TV. I am lucky if I can get to a game once every two years.

I know they are world class athletes & all BUT we pay them WAAAAY to much money. It is a little digusting when police, firemen, teachers, scientists, etc., etc. are stuggling or bareyl getting by & athletes & actors are making MILLIONS (some billions) of dollars.

well, they come from an unhappy place. Its understandable. They're used to being "pawned," and told how much they "fail." Its like escaping middle school.

On topic, I disagree, Scott, that Benson "rapes" the state. 15 million wont even pay Charles Grant, I dont think. I'm guessing bottom line isnt all that, after the astronomical payroll goes out. And if he does make money, great. I want Benson to make money, so he'll keep his business in New Orleans.

We have the best ticket prices in sports. Come over to Houston and see what the Texans charge for one crappy seat in a different zip code--even beforethe PSL scam kicks in -- and thats to see the TEXANS, ugh! .... in Reliant Morgue.
The only one who makes me feel raped in New Orleans is Central Parking.

Of course, I could be biased now, because he gave me that shiny gold coin. It has the Superdome on it, and its shiiiiny! I like it.

But I totally agree each teams fans should get 20% of the tickets at least. Thats a wonderful idea. In fact I'd like see it at 40%. You could have a special celebrity masturbatory awards program the night before, with Kathy Griffin & a red carpet---then give them some kind of VIP viewing theatre with hors d' ouevres & cocaine. Tell em its for the Rainforest. This gets the celebrities & ET out of the way.

If you have money for SB tickets, you have money to burn anyway, and there are other places to get your tickets besides the Saints (organization).

In its current condition & price, I have zero interest in attending a Super Bowl live. The real party is at home, and we can greet the players at the airport.

I think what you're trying to say is that the title of this thread would be more appropriately, "Could not be more Disappointed in the Front Office," since we know this board is about the Saints, and glancers-by dont mistake this headline for being about Drew & Reggie, thereby peeing in the pool party.

Just change the title of the thread dude..easy fix

WeatherNLU 01-29-2010 07:44 PM

Re: Could not be more disappointed in the Saints.....

Why would I change the title of the thread to appease two people who have now gotten together to discuss what happens on another board or whatever they are talking about.

Tom Benson owns the SAINTS.
Mickey Looms is the GM of the SAINTS.
The ticket people sell tickets for the SAINTS.
The players play for the SAINTS.
The janitor cleans the toilet for the SAINTS.

See how that works, the whole organization is called the Saints. I don't need to relax I was just thinking that by saying I was disappointed in the Saints when it came to tickets that people had enough common sense to know I was not talking about the players. Apparently there is a disconnect there. I don't even know how this got started, I guess because someone insinuated that I was mad at Drew and Reggie because of the number of Super Bowl tickets they released. I mean it's quite obvious that Drew and Reggie got together at a table with all the Super Bowl tickets and divided them up. Good lord.
