You are absoluely right gator. This win means nothing in as far as how the season is going to go. But, this defense didn\'t play bad in the first game and it played outstanding today. It\'s encouging for the defense and the offense showed flashes of last year. What ya think?

Your right Gator texas did play alittle weak, but we tok it to them and made them pay for there mistakes. After a rough first half they found a way to get it together and win strong, a good game to build on going into next week.

What does this WIN MEAN?

I actually disagree... and I\'m the pessimist. I\'ll sayt this win was very important for two reasons.

1. We won big and had a great second half. That\'s big, and quiets some major concerns. Yes, it is the Texans, but had they squeeked by that would have been bad. They didn\'t. They won big.

2. It\'s a momentum changer. We were 1-7 in our last eight games going into this one. A win, and a big win, should help our confidence and hopefully build some momentum.

Yes, this is a game we were supposed to win. But overcoming adversity, ADJUSTING at the half, and looking explosive in the second half are all good signs for this team, no matter who we played.

Amen, Whodat.

I think that this win is huge because our coaching staff showed the fans and the players that they could make adjustments and actually use the talent that they have on this team.

Also, the defense showed that they can supply pressure even with our top lineman out with an injury.

If we\'d just squeeked by with a win, I would agree with you other guys, but the Saint\'s made a statement with this second half turnaround.

Nice win.

The turnaround the offense made in the second half was incredible. Joe Horn and Aaron Brooks made some spectacular connections. Very impressed with the second half versus the first.

On the defensive side, the Saints haven\'t played with that kind of emotion in a very long time. The Defensive line was in total control of the Texans. Grady Jackson played extremely well. I hope Sullivan will be ok though. We were lucky that the Texans dropped some balls.

This is a huge win for the Saints, it gets the monkey off their backs just a little. Hopefully the can keep their focus and go into Tennessee and pull out a victory. They should be able to stop Eddie George, but McNair is scary.

I think members on here get too high with the highs and too low with the lows. It truely amazes me how some fans react to wins and losses. Take it for what it is and that\'s a stepping stone to get to the next level.

I said last week this defense looked much improved and I still think that. The offense is going to be fine I think. It\'s the defense that will take this team to the next level.

There\'s a reason that the coaches tell the players to take it one week at a time and that\'s the same reason that the fans should do the same --IMO.

I can pass out praise when it is warranted. AB played well in the second half and I thought he showed some real poise today. I still cannot excuse the first half and I have to keep beating the consistency drum. We have to be consistent to even start thinking about the playoffs, and THAT is our ultimate goal. A game won or a game lost is just that. Just looking at our performance today shows us the absolute definition of lack of consistency. First half=pop-warner practice squad; second half=pro-bowlesque super power.

Our defense was inspired today. I can\'t explain why suddenly Jay Bellamy was able to tackle (did you see him today, wow!), and Whitehead was able to rush the QB effectively. I won\'t look the gift-horse in the mouth. Heck, the zebras gave the Texans 7 points today (pass interference?! you gotta be @#&&ing me! And what\'s up with that ball spot?) I\'ll just say that if our defense can play at least to that level every week, we are in much better shape than I have been saying we are.

Next week is the Titans. I hope the momentum of this week can carry us into next, I\'ll start crowing about how good the Saints are if we beat them.

What does this WIN MEAN?

Gator, you are correct, it does not throw us into the upper crust of football. It is what it is, a win. We are 1-1, and we have tto start somewhere. However , if you want to strut around like a BillyRooster with your chest puffed out over a victory against the Texans, go ahead. It is a win.....................only. Now if the coaches learn and the players learned from this what is successful versus what is not, then we are taking a step in the right direction. Brooks played well, we need to get Horn in the endzone. And the defense stepped it up, when they wanted to. It goes back to the same reason we choked down the stretch, not motivated either by coach or field general and not enough drive to motivate themselves. They excelled today when they wanted to. They have hope, but they need the drive and leadership to make it happen. Defense showed a flash of decent for one week(Texans). Offense should never have been a question as it appeared in pre season or the in the first game. Hopefully the offense will gel. We also may have made a gain in Brooks level of maturity, did anyone see him grinng and acting giddy like a school girl today?

Don't want em to get your goat don't show em where it's hid.

Subguy --

I had my chest sticking out like a BillyRooster since I became a Saints fan -- I see no reason to stop now. Why are you so obsessed with what I think? I\'ve been bashed more than anyone on here for being optimistic. This is only one win and that\'s all it is. However, I think the demise of the Saints has been greatly exagerrated !!
