League fines Saints’ McCray $20K for hits on Favre

The NFL fined Saints DE Bobby McCray a total of $20,000 for two incidents involving unnecessary roughness, according to a league source.
In the first quarter of last Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, McCray unnecessarily delivered a blow to Vikings QB Brett Favre, who was out of the play. Additionally, during the third quarter, McCray delivered a blow to Favre’s knee area.

Those fines go to a charity, so if you want, find out where he's donating the money and set up a matching fund. We can't replace the money he's losing, but we can show support by giving to those in need.

On the reverse, Brett is a blocker. He should have gotten lit up. On the other play McCray is shutting it down after fighting around the edge. Benson ought to find a way to give him his money back...since he's paying him to play football...and that's all it was: football.

if favre had of blocked someone, every analyst would be saying great block and its legal, but now that favre gets lit up WHEN ITS STILL TOTALLY LEGAL they all become cry babies. Hey NFL if ya check your players job descriptions it should say - excessive contact is allowed and is routine on every play, if ya don't want it to happen pull all the babies (favre)out of this mans game!!

This is what I have a problem with... McCray was rushing and Favre faked as if he still had the ball... running the other way pretending as if he was tucking away the football. I felt as if McCray was finishing off the play therefore not deserving of that fine.

Things have changed. The world is politically correct these days. I feel sorry for kids.

These days you've got female sportscasters asking Rod Woodson if "they went to far" against Favre. At least he spoke the truth.

We are in SEC country. We are accustomed to actual football. Many of the whiners are not.

feel free to search for the number of starters we have for any other college conference

I have to admit I was.... puzzled by that personal foul call on McCray for laying out Favre. How in the world is he supposed to know they're not going to run a double reverse and have Favre block him out of the way? That was some bullcrap.

The NFL is a joke, there was no flag on that play. Replay shows that he was blocked in the back, wish he wouldn't of been so he could of knocked him out like he had done Warner the week before

Anyone else notice what ESPN wrote next to the fine announcement, on the bottomline? "if the penalty had been called, it would have negated an interception thrown by Favre." Are you serious? Has anyone EVER seen something like this before? The Favre apologists are at work again. ESPN sucks something fierce, and they just keep on sucking. It's like reading the National Enquirer now. What a joke.

ESPN has never been on the same side as Saints, just get use to the fact that they will never like this team..
Go ask them why they don't have an ESPNzone stationed permanently in New Orleans and have one in Atlanta and Miami, Yet the Superdome has probably provided them with their highest ratings ever, not to mention New Orleans is a deep sports town, Atlanta is a Transient city, the people that do cheer for those teams out there are mostly bandwagoners that adopted the team while living temporarily, working or going to school there, the rest bounce from team to team Hawks, Braves, Falcons, Thrashers and Silverbacks.
Which ever is losing less will get support.
