Let the Super Bowl hype (a.k.a. Freeney updates) begin. MEDIA DAY IS HERE!
MIAMI -- Just arrived a couple hours ago, along with the rest of the media sheep congregating at the Broward County Convention Center, to begin six days of hyping everything you possibly want to know about Super Bowl XLIV.
Besides what the New Orleans Saints have done for their city ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, the big story will be whether Indianapolis Colts' pass-rushing phenomenon Dwight Freeney can play effectively on his bum right ankle Sunday. The Colts initially denied reports of ligament damage, but coach Jim Caldwell confirmed to Sirius Radio today that Freeney has a third-degree sprain and will be questionable for the big game. The first media contact today will be a session with Saints coach Sean Payton and a half-dozen selected players at the University of Miami at 4 p.m., followed by Caldwell and some of his players at 6 p.m. from their hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach.... This is so exciting to watch. I've been glued to the tv all day. I'm so happy to see our Saints in this position. It's becoming more real every day!
